Rafters rule the ratings roost

By David Knox on August 8, 2010 / Filed Under News 12

The first week of data for ABC News 24 indicates the total viewing audience is three times smaller than that of ABC2, and eight times smaller than GO! In Week 32 it was the Seven Network that won the ratings week, buoyed by over 2 million viewers for Packed to the Rafters, the #1 show of the week.

    22 Glee Fox8 43,000

5th non-sport show on pay TV – not bad.

But with all the hype about Pineapple Dance Studios – it didn’t make top 100?

Didn’t expect this to happen : this weekend our most watched channel was SBS-TWO – they’ve got some cracking docco series going on.

    Love Rafters!
But we Do not need a 24 hour News channel …. how depressing and a total waste of a HD station.

Don’t understand how Dancing with the Stars continues to rate the way it does? The grannies sure love it!

Any network that broadcasts Bones and Castle repeats at 8:30 Sunday does not deserve to win the week. I don’t understand how this is allowed to happen at the executive level. Must try harder to find first run programming for primetime Sunday night!

I remember David Mott saying when the 7pm Project was struggling to get 600K viewers a night that his aim was for the program to rate around 850K a night. If he still stands by that statement, then he should be happy with where the 7pm Project is atm. It is achieving that and more most of the week without Masterchef around and a fairly poor lead-in from Neighbours.

I cannot agree with Ducko on relevance of 7pm outside Melb – I find it relevant – and I am outside Melbourne. I feel they take great care in treating news and issues on a national scale – the whip is a good example, and their live crosses to major cities supports that. It has slipped a little, post MC, but still in the 900,000’s on a couple of nights in the week is pretty impressive.

The 7pm Project back below 900k. It seems to be losing audience outside of Melbourne probably because it has little relevance outside of Melbourne.

I’m surprised at the low ratings for ABC News, do we know how those numbers compare to SkyNews?
