Renewed: Covert Affairs

By David Knox on August 20, 2010 / Filed Under News 10

USA Network has ordered a second season of the CIA action drama Covert Affairs.

That’s good news for Seven which premiered the show in Australia on Monday night.

The series stars Piper Perabo as a CIA operative with a cast including Christopher Gorham and Peter Gallagher.

In the US the show is the No. 1 new series of the year among the 18-49 demo, drawing in an average of 2.52 million and some 5.4 million in total viewers.

The number of episodes has not been determined yet but is expected to be in the 13-16 range.

I love the show! I to be honest when I heard it was made by USA I had no doubt as they vary rarely cancel their shows (knock on wood). 7/Prime have got another great show to up their ratings…keep up the good work =)

Based on the first episode it’s okay. It has the potential to improve and become good. She’s pretty hot (which excuses her over glamourisation – a twenty-something CIA trainee who wears, and can afford, Louboutins? Yeah sure), the back story is intriguing, tech is believable. The female boss is just silly though – get rid of her!

Was it written for someone who was actuially blind? It’s a blind character. Yes.

Sorry but I think your other comments on actors with disabilities really only highlight why there should be more opportunities for them. Story on Zack Weinstein’s guest appearance in Glee is here.

I just hate is when being PC for a show is more important than telling a good story with good actors no matter who they are.

I’d like to know was the part written originally for someone who was actually blind or did they decide to add that to give a new dimension to the character?

Not to be crude but how many blind actors are there in Hollywood who could play the part? Or for that matter wheel chair bound guys for the kid on Glee?

@Craig – Think that might have happened already… I’d like to see a show try to meet their African-American quota by having a white actor black up. That would be something to complain about.

I’m liking the show so this is good news.

Also HawthoRNe (on Universal Ch) Suleka Mathew plays an amputee (she mostly wears pants but they use CGI in the shot where you can see her legs) and there were complaints about that… what next if a brunette goes blonde for a part they’ll complain?

Some criticism in the US that they didn’t cast a blind actor. Glee has copped some similar flak.

That’s great news. I really enjoyed the first episode. And Christopher plays the blind guy brilliantly!
