The Footy Show's Shane Crawford will run from Adelaide to Melbourne in a bid to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.

The Footy Show’s Shane Crawford will run from Adelaide to Melbourne in a bid to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.

Crawford, who has previously tackled Guinness World Records on the AFL show, will run over 760km, averaging more than 60 kilometres a day.

He will start on Father’s Day, Sunday September 5, from Rundle Mall in Adelaide running through towns including Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Keith, Bordertown, Nhill, Dimboola, Horsham, Stawell, Ararat, Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh.

He plans to shuffle into Melbourne’s Channel Nine studios for The Footy Show on Thursday, September 16.

“As a footy player I encountered some pretty physical encounters over the years but nothing compares to what I am about to embark on,” Crawford said.

“I don’t know what I’m in for but every time I think about how tough it will be I think about the people I am running for and how hard their battle has been. My pain is nothing compared to what they’re going through.

“At first I was just focused on raising as much money as possible, but having met several survivors and discussed their journeys it has so much more purpose now.”

  1. Well done Shane, one hawk to another stand proud of what a difference this mighty effort will make to our loved ones day after day. Good luck with all that life brings your way.
    hawks forever Jan

  2. It was fantastic watching Shane running with Gary Lyon and then Campbell Brown arriving. I’m not a Hawthorn supporter, just a football tragic, but Crawf’s run for Breast Cancer Research is absolutely amazing. If his little guys grow up to be half as good as their Dad, they’ll be great men.

Run proud, I’m a fan of your for what you are doing for those who have any form of cancer.

  4. Its interesting the number of male sports people supporting female related health problems… we still need more awareness about prostrate and other male cancers.
