Susan Boyle for Glee

Glee creator Ryan Murphy is talking to Susan Boyle about guest-starring in a Christmas-themed episode.

It would surely be a case of Pop Culture eating itself…

Glee creator Ryan Murphy told reporters at a US Television Critics Association event on Monday that he’s talking to Susan Boyle about guest-starring in a Christmas-themed episode.

She is expected to play a high school lunch lady (who no doubt finds her own voice at some point during the show).

Murphy also said that he received a surprise package from Paul McCartney, with CDs of some of his songs along with a note asking him to consider using his music on the show.

“I was gob-smacked,” Murphy said. “I grew up with that guy. So, of course, we are going to do something with him.”

As for thelong-term future of the show, Murphy says, “We obviously have to deal with the cast and the show that we hope goes on for years.

“We’ve sort of mapped out the first four years with this original cast. The thing about the show is you have set competitions that are true. There are sectionals and nationals, (but we also) want to go to Copenhagen or Moscow for international competitions.”

  1. the casting of Finn is a curious one. cory is way to old, 13 years older than is character. and is probably the weakest actor (it would be ok if he was a good actor and could pull off a 15yo). matthew morrison and Jayma Mays (Will and Emma) are only 2 years older and they are playing his teachers.

  2. @Alf

I want hard facts that proves she is talentless and that her time is up. I’ll then retort with a response supporting the idea she has talent.

I’ll go first: She sold 3.1 million albums in the last six weeks of 2009. And a further 3.9 million in 2010. Your turn.

  3. @ ryaneco: Beats me. Corey Monteith and the guy that plays “Puck” are both nearing their 30s and they’re playing high schoolers on the show. =P

  4. Well technically Glee season 1 has only spanned across 1 school year so far and it’s assumed on the whole that basically they are in grade 10. So they still have another solid 2 years to go on till the show should wrap itself up into a neat bundle and avoid trying to attempt college, because once most shows try and do college they usually just fail. With One Tree Hill being a smart exception where they skipped the college years and fast forwarded to adulthood (But I doubt that Glee would actually venture into that field because not all of them would make it big in the music industry).

  5. How old are the kids meant to be; I swear they should be in near senior year; how long can they go for? That said I commented the same about Lost, Prison Break etc and they all stretched out for years.

I love Glee best new show of last US season and best show in quite some time but I don’t want to continually see stunt casting in every episode same with stunt tribute episodes.

The writing on the show is fantastic so I’d personally just like to see more of that.

  6. I’m glad that Glee is also branching out to incorporate both old and new music and artists. It’s a refreshing new perspective on pop culture because it gives us the best parts of different generations of music. I’d find it funny if they actually did a Boyband song by BackStreet Boys of N’sync. I’d like to see if Brittany, Mike or Matt can sing as well as dance. When I first saw them add Puck, Santana, Brittany, Mike and Matt I expected them to just be fillers, but with then Puck and Santana now both sing and they have amazing voices. And with the fact that Brittany And Santana are being promoted to regulars, maybe this season Brittany might do a Britney song?

  7. Anything Glee does will be good…not sure whether SuBo would be my first choice as a guest star – I really like it when they have musical theatre greats guest star – but I’m sure they’ll write something awesome for Boyle if she does do it.
