Airdate: With Tim Ferguson

Tim Ferguson is returning to television for a bit of state political sniping.

Tim Ferguson, best known as one-third of comedy act the Doug Anthony Allstars and host of Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush, is returning to television -but only in Melbourne and Geelong.

Ferguson will host a live show on Channel 31 reacting to the upcoming Victorian State Election.

With Tim Ferguson (or WTF for short) is a half-hour weekly commentary show described as ‘shock-jock radio with pictures.’

According to Ferguson, his show will have no skits, no stunts and no parlour games.

“It’ll just be the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but what I reckon is the Truth. It’ll be funny, sure, but sometimes I’ll go straight down the line,” he said.

“I’ll attack the Right, the Left and whatever the Greens are calling themselves these days.”

Joining him are playwright/political speechwriter Michael Gurr, journalist/comedian Fiona Scott Norman, former Disney movie executive Alan Finney, playwright/screenwriter Chris Thompson and finance expert Mark Ryan.

Producer Marc Gracie says, “Tim will be speaking live from his bleeding heart and his right-wing brain.

“We don’t have a bunch of joke-writers telling Tim what to say – we have a team of thinkers telling him what to think.”

With Tim Ferguson premieres on Channel 31 (Digital Channel 44) at 8pm Wednesday October 13th.

  1. for those interested…
    the show has a blog… withtimferguson.wordpress.com
    and a twitter account… twitter.com/withtimferguson

    Can’t wait for this show!!!

  2. Most people wouldn’t know Tim’s political background is very strong. In the 1990 Australian federal election, he stood as an independent candidate for the seat of Kooyong, against the then Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Peacock.

  3. How exciting! I’ve heard Tim speak before and he is compelling and certainly in the know with respect to the big issues. I think this will be a brilliant addition to Channel 31 and can’t wait to see it. From the comments here, it’s clear he’s controversial already – this should be a fun watch!

  4. (ex?) Chaser member Charles Firth launched his show on Go! last week, called WTF. Now Tim’s show launching in two weeks is also called WTF.

As much as I like the name – With Tim Ferguson – it should probably be changed to save confusion between two local shows on non-mainstream channels.

  5. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how Tim Ferguson doesn’t age?
Same goes for other Doug Anthony Allstar Paul McDermott, lol.

Show sounds interesting, I’ll give it a watch.

  6. @ AA – yes, as the show is about Victorian politics….

I think this could be good, Channel 31 has been presenting some pretty good shows lately – even some that look like they are produced more professionally than some commercial shows (has anyone seen The Xtra Factor?????)

Apparently some of their programs are reaching over 100,000 viewers – considering they can only possibly reach 1.4m people (?), they are getting good numbers, especially for a community station. I would be interested to see how the other community stations in Australia are going with ratings?

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

  7. Sounds worth tuning in for. State issues barely get a mention on TV these days.

Though why does the TV Guide on the Freeview website omit C31? TVS is shown there in Sydney.

  8. Not a fan of Tim Ferguson but this looks like it could be OK, I might give it a go.

But I wonder if Nine/GO will debate the use of initials WTF given that GO has a show of the same name 🙂
