Cameras roll on more My Place

Rachel Ward heads a list of new cast members to join the ABC's children's drama My Place.

Shooting on the second season of ABC3 drama My Place began this week in Sydney.

Series two will continue to go back in time at 10-year intervals beginning in 1878 and finishing with two episodes beyond 1788 timeline of the original book. The final two episodes will follow stories of two Indigenous children who lived in the same place before European settlement.

Appearing in the new season are Rachel Ward (Beautiful Kate), Wayne Blair (Lockie Leonard), Catriona McKenzie (The Circuit), Sam Lang (Monkey’s Mask), Greg Waters (Dance Academy), Nick Parsons (Dead Heart), Alice Addison (RAN), John Alsop (RAN, Brides of Christ), Dallas Winmar (Aliwa!), Tony Briggs (The Sapphires) and Michael James Rowland (The Last Confession Of Alexander Pearce).

Produced by Penny Chapman (Brides of Christ, The Road from Coorain and Blue Murder) from Matchbox Pictures, the story is based on the multi-award winning book about several generations of Australian children who have lived in the same place for over 130 years.

Chapman said: “I’m delighted to be filming the second half of the My Place story. We’ve got another superb cast and more beautiful scripts.

“The first series of My Place (and its interactive sites) have won us many awards and we hope the series will keep entertaining children for generations to come.”

It has 13 episodes.
