Jeremy Clarkson for Top Gear Australia appearance

The new Top Gear Aussie hosts paid a visit to the UK original for a segment in the upcoming local series.

TV Tonight swung by a recording of Top Gear Australia at Bankstown Airport last night, to check out new hosts Shane Jacobson, Steve Pizzati and Ewen Page.

There were hundreds of enthusiastic fans watching on as the hosts recorded their segments before an audience dominated by blokes.

Celebrity guests for the Star in Bog Standard Car were The Chaser‘s Craig Reucassel and Andrew Hansen.

Under Freehand Productions the show has been filming plenty of location work and stunts, including a visit to the UK where Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear boys make a special appearance. Details remain elusive, in keeping with the show’s famed secrecy.

The show is coming to Nine soon.

  1. What was a bit lacking in the previous 2 series of TGA was any feel that it truly was “a step-child” of TGUK – it felt more like its poor orphaned cousin! I really do think that the simple inclusion of one or some of the TGUK hosts in an ep or two of our show may help to bridge that gap… maybe…

    At least with Nine now owning the rights one would expect that the budget would be better – possibly allowing them to do big specials like the UK guys do… ??? ??? ???

  2. This could be good. Steve pizatti was ok i liked Warren Brown and his charactures they and he brought something different and australian to the show. It could be a positive boost to the Australian version if and when the UK hosts appear.

  3. If the studio audience is dominated by men, I wonder if TGA are aiming specifically for the male market to the exclusion of females? I personally know more men who stuck with TGA after the first few weeks while most women I know stopped watching.

    I know that TGUK requires a 50/50 split of males and females in their audience – if you get 2 tickets, 1 man and 1 woman must attend, if you have 10 tickets then 5 of each, etc.

    I’ll give the new series a look, though.

  4. Is Top Gear Australia airing this year? Alot of work seems to be going into it and feels like its been filming for a long time; how many episodes should we expect? 8?
