Kara DioGuardi confirms American Idol exit

By David Knox on September 5, 2010 / Filed Under Pay TV 2

TMZ reported Kara DioGuardi was out of American Idol back on August 1st.

Yesterday she confirmed her departure.

“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol,” DioGuardi said in a statement. “I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol – it has truly been an amazing experience … I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!”

As yet there is still no confirmation on Jennifer Lopez as her replacement, but rumours of “diva demands” have been watered down.

The line-up, which may yet return to three judges, is presumed to include Lopez, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and resident judge Randy Jackson.

I agree she would have been pushed. I’m sure she would not have left if she had a say in it. Will be an interesting year on American Idol

There’s no way this was her decision – she was pushed out the door. I don’t see any reason for them to continue with a 4-judge panel – 3 will be enough. I think this will at best be AmIdol’s 2nd last season, at worst last (X Factor will kill it, especially if Simon manages to get Paula back on board).
