Greg Giraldo, a judge on US comedy show Last Comic Standing, is in a critical condition following a reported accidental drug overdose.

Giraldo was found unconscious by paramedics at the Hyatt Regency, New Jersey, after he failed to appear at a nearby comedy venue.

Emergency workers managed to resuscitate him before he was transported to hospital.

E! News says a fellow comic said Giraldo had recently split with his wife.

It claims he has been clean and sober for several years now and had been booked to appear at the New York Recovery Rally, an event for recovering substance abusers.

Last Comic Standing is currently airing on 7mate.

  3. Although it appears otherwise, I hope he hasn’t relapsed but I guess the alternative isn’t too pretty either… Greg Giraldo is an extremely underrated legend of modern comedy – I hope he makes a speedy recovery.
