  1. I agree with you KatCassidy, but if you include medical drama’s in the “sick of” list, then Offspring would be out too. Drama has become to much of the same material over and over again. A new show these days is more a re-arrangement of old scripts and sets, rather than new ideas. It’s a shame really and I think overall TV has lost its creativity.

  2. @ Adam ” I wonder why advertisers would bother with a few percentage points when the channel has no loyal targeted market”. This is precisely why One isn’t “a disaster” – targetted market (have you not noticed how many ads there are for Ashley&Martin on One? Ditto for Harvey Norman and their entertainment technology). TEN have said themselves the channel is a success and is ahead of financial expectations. It’s not all about getting the highest average rating number – it’s about business.

@ Craig AFL is on anti-siphon list, so they can’t show it on One if it hasn’t been shown on 10 yet. Therefore the only option for delay is on One, which would leave the situation that if you want to watch live, you can’t watch in HD. If TEN want to show it live AND in HD, they have no choice because of the legislation… which is being reviewed soon. Hopefully the fact that the digital HD channels are now fairly widely available will lead to an easing of the restrictions.

  3. 50 NCIS Rpt Ten
    51 City Homicide Seven
    52 Rescue Special Ops Nine

Huh? More people watched a Repeat of “NCIS” than new episodes of “City Homicde” and “Rescue Special Ops”? As someone who likes all three shows I can honestly say I am surprised by this. If it was a New episode of “NCIS” then I wouldn’t be surprised. I get the feeling, though. that this is because people are sick of cop shows. I know I am. Sure, I still watch them, but as far as Aussie TV goes lately, “Packed To The Rafters” is the only scripted/acted non-cop show I can find, unless the ABC has a new offering that I’ve missed….. [/opinion]

  4. High ratings watched by dopes. So what if GO! is no.1 digital, I don’t watch it at all ex Seinfeld so now ad revenue worth spending on me here. Might explain to people like Adam who comment on failures, disasters that wall to wall US content is not for everyone (more accurately not for the majority).

  5. GO! ‘s complementary and counter-programming is very cleverly wallpapering over the cracks in Nine’s main channel schedule. However, without 2.5 men Nine would be in a whole world of pain by now. They have got to find a Aussie drama hit, and they desperately need an entertainment franchise. LAC, SP and RSO are ok for Thursday 830, but they need series that can win Sunday and Monday. If Ten have the courage to commission Offspring and reap the benefits why don’t Seven and Nine?

  6. @vid – you’re probably right, although I probably won’t watch it much. Only watch GO! occasionally, maybe more int he coming weeks with the new shows coming, hardly watch 7TWO and probably won’t watch 7mate much either. I’m actually looking forward to ch11 the most.

With the streaming (Shows and Sport) online, I just hope they can gets a deal with ISPs for quota free like iView does or I won’t be using that much unless I can’t get a better ADSL deal.

As always next week should be interesting with the possible launch of Nine’s new channel.

  7. @craig – I totally agree about the F1. I hope with ONE now owning the rights to the coverage online as of next year they might show all the practise and qualifying live from their website just like BBC does in the UK.

Ive been watching it via BBCs website (through a VPN) it is sooooooo nice to have it live and commerical free and with the BBC commentators and not be interupted by the stupid Aussie commentators that have no idea!!!!!!
I really wish Foxtel had got the rights!!!!!

  8. I don’t believe Nine thinks it will launch a new channel in less than a week without any promotion or announcements before hand.

Yes I want to know what happens with shows that fail on GO! and the other digital channels, will we get endless re-runs of TBBT and 2.5 Men and have to wait for the 3rd channels to air these shows?

IMO the networks should have some code of conduct, where they have to air a new show within a set time once it’s started, or at least put it online for free download not eating into our quoter’s?

Also why was the F1 qualifying pushed back so late once again? Only for TEN and ONE to show the same AFL game? 3 channels airing the same content, great use of resources TEN!

  9. I await Ten’s announcements for next year. If it wasn’t for Masterchef, this year would be a disaster. Only “Generation” pulling decent figures. The 7pm Project seems to be in decline again & Rush is tanking big-time. Offspring holding up OK.

  10. 7Two is a failure, One is a disaster… will be interesting to see if 7 keeps 7Two – can’t remember ever watching that channel and I wonder why advertisers would bother with a few percentage points when the channel has no loyal targeted market. GO! brand was a very logical and easy thing to do for 9 and has reaped the benefits as a result.

  11. GO! may have played a part in Nine’s win, but Seven’s poor performance on Tuesday (surprisingly), Wednesday and Thursday also contributed. Seven and Nine are now level again on ratings weeks won.
