By far the best ep of offspring!! I havn’t laughed that much in ages, starting to really enjoy this show and it was good to see another great aussie actor, john wood join the show.

@ jarred – Nine won by %7 mainly thanks to the NRL. You may not like it but that’s the way it is.

  3. Mr. chandler September 26, 2010 at 8:19 pm -

what a grand final.can’t wait for next saturday and sunday. the best weekend of the years has returned

  4. Jarred September 26, 2010 at 7:43 pm -

I never realised how stupid the daily share totals were, clearly there is no doubt that Seven won Saturday with flying colours, either way, Seven made the most money on Saturday and they will again this Saturday.

Those ratings are rubbish for AFL GF, they don’t take into account the live screens outside the stadium where thousands of supporters sat and watched. I was at a mates house where their were 20 of us in one room watching it, do the ratings take that into account? The figure would be much higher than that. Over half of Melbourne would be watching the GF for sure.

The AFL Grand Final tie between the Magpies and the Saints is now the second-most watched program in Melbourne since OzTAM ratings began in 2001, ahead of last year’s match between the Cats and the Saints (1.426 million) but below the 2006 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony (1.549 million).

  7. Secret Squïrrel September 26, 2010 at 5:06 pm -

Yeah, David – are you sure that you’re not being controlled by the ghost of the late and great Kerry Packer? It would certainly explain your blatant pro-Nine bias and complete lack of perspective when commenting on other networks. j/k

Seriously, we keep saying it, this is an excellent site and your efforts are very much appreciated.

  8. TDJ September 26, 2010 at 5:00 pm -

It never ceases to amaze me just how incompetent these television networks are, especially the commercial ones. Their stupidity is consistently broadcast for everyone to see, so you would think they would perform better. Then again that may be a measure of how stupid, contemptible and arrogant they are. Take Seven for instance, they have a new channel “7mate”, no doubt as pointless as the rest. It has been advertised on channel “71”, then on Saturday I flick the station over to what I thought would be the News on “70” and there is 7Mate. The News was on “71”. Now the idiots have 7Mate on “73”. What the crap is wrong with these morons, can’t make up their minds. I am getting close to pulling out the antenna out of the television and being done with these moronic idiots once and for all. If we all unplugged them it could force them to pick up their game and stop treating viewers with contempt.

  10. David Knox September 26, 2010 at 2:44 pm -

Nope. Try reading the About page.

  11. Mark September 26, 2010 at 2:38 pm -

Is this site owned by nine?? Serious?

  12. Joe September 26, 2010 at 2:31 pm -

Even though 7 mysteriously didn’t win the night in ratings share, they still would have made the most money by ads during the grand final. The price of having an ad shown during the grand final would cost much more than having an ad during the rugby

  13. Adelaide_john September 26, 2010 at 1:56 pm -

One programmed the a repaly of the 2009 AFL GF at 2pm yesterday, is there a ratings figure for it?

  14. David Knox September 26, 2010 at 1:44 pm -

    News to me.

  15. joshh4000 September 26, 2010 at 1:26 pm -

just to remund u all. this site is owned by nine.

  16. Nick September 26, 2010 at 12:57 pm -

“how did 9 win by so much last night (sat)?”

Big Momma’s House plus Rugby League combined gives them an audience of around 1.3 million for about 3 hours.

I may be wrong but I think the network share is only judged in prime time starting at 6pm, so much of the AFL didn’t count.

  17. catherine September 26, 2010 at 11:13 am -

Im sorry for this stupid question but how did 9 win by so much last night (sat)?

  18. BM-dog September 26, 2010 at 11:04 am -

Well I bet Melbournians are pleased they got to see the acclaimed piece of filmic art Big Momma’s House 2 rather than an excellent and absorbing game of rugby league. Good programming decision, Nine!

Sucked in channel 9. Showing cops at 8.30 in Adelaide = Big mistake. 82 k is Karma for 9 who promised the grand final footy show would be on at 8.30 but instead was shown at 9.30. Do monkeys run the place at 9??? 127 k ended up watching the footy show grand final which easily could have been 180 k +. idiots at 9

  23. Maev September 24, 2010 at 6:30 pm -

This was listed in Thursday nite ratings…..?!?!?!?
But the movie is being advertised as 9PM tonite …..Friday…..*confused*

  24. Darryn September 24, 2010 at 5:53 pm -

Wow ten just managed to get half of nines total audience, how sad is that for a commercial channel. love it

  25. Donald September 24, 2010 at 5:52 pm -

@DansDans – Ten and One are listed separately. Also David only gets figures for top 100, so the One coverage failed to make top 100.

David, maybe you shold make a little FAQ for these pieces of information? I see these questions appear repeatedly (since your answers ot previous times are back in the comments of the time).

It’s curious that the delayed coverage of TNL on Ten out-rated the live show on One – goes against the usual trend for live coverage on One rating better than the delayed coverage on Ten. Not a sports event as such, but even so the live coverage of the Brownlow medal on One did better in NRL states than the delayed coverage on Ten, anf that’s an awards ceremony, so TNL very much against the trend here with delayed on Ten doing better.

  26. Secret Squïrrel September 24, 2010 at 3:34 pm -

@Ryan – Bondi Vet hilarious? You must be getting confused with Chris being on GNW!

  27. ryan September 24, 2010 at 2:54 pm -

Bondi vet is doing really well for Ten, winning all demos in the past 4 weeks and it’s slot. Last night’s ep was hilarious! I hope next yr the show is asked to do more eps for the season

  28. Mr. chandler September 24, 2010 at 2:08 pm -

the afl footy show was good last night and it was funny when they sprayed 7 for their failed attempt to out do the footy show. the nrl footy show was terrible and i hope they never use use wannbe comedians ever agin. they don’t want to be a try hard comedy show like the matty johns show now do they

  29. CK September 24, 2010 at 12:58 pm -

pretty bad numbers for COPS even without melb watching

  30. DC September 24, 2010 at 12:23 pm -

@ John B – Footy show AFL would have taken more than 80,000 from Rush. Id say at least 150,000 if not more!

  31. Jarred September 24, 2010 at 12:10 pm -

Following on from my last comment, COPS got the ratings it deserved in Adelaide with only 82k. This rose by 35% to 127k for the GF Footy Show, so it is clear where the interest lies and it’s obviously not with COPS. Nine made a big mistake there and could’ve got 180k for GF Footy Show if they had stuck to their original lineup and showed it at 8.30pm.

  32. ducko September 24, 2010 at 12:03 pm -

Next Thursday will be the last showing of Rush until after the Com. Games (if it goes ahead.) Perhaps they’ll bring it back to a different timeslot after the games?

  33. Craig September 24, 2010 at 12:00 pm -

Not having Cops on in Melb really hurt it’s overall numbers, like earlier in the week for ROS. Splitting show time/dates like that is never a good idea IMO.

  34. catherine September 24, 2010 at 11:58 am -

Only 154,000 watched the nrl footy show in sydney in the lead up to the prelim finals. David Gyngell has a lot of work to do. Wonder what they will get for the grand final show next week.

The AFL footy show was great last night. The opening was hilarious with there songs and they were all pretty funny.

Sunrise still dominates. Be interesting to see todays figures with both shows in melbourne.

  35. DC September 24, 2010 at 11:51 am -

Rush has being excellent the last 2 weeks!! Loved it last night! The music used creates such a mood for the show. Really hope it gets a fourth season but its not looking good. Bloody channel 9 screening cops against it has not only killed Rush but killed any chance for COPS to be a success too!!

  36. DansDans September 24, 2010 at 11:42 am -

David – Thursday Night Live is TEN or ONE?

  37. chk chk September 24, 2010 at 11:24 am -

@Goonies, the Boss didn’t really delve much on the cooking ability of the applicants but it diod provide her an insight on the applicants on a personal level by inviting herself to a dinner to conduct the initial interview, in fact the dinner segment only featured on the first 20 mintues of the show. The Boss selected the successful candidates ultimately based on the practical exam that they were given, on the first ep it was to close an order by each of the applicant to sell different products to the same pharmacist. The applicant’s ability to prepare a dinner didn’t even get a weighting when the Boss selected the successful candidate.

It’s too presumptuous of you to put up an argument without even checking the facts first.

Prime Time Game Day – looks like its going to be another failed prime time slot AFL show by C7.

haha and anyone catch the The Footy Show’s “pretty woeful” karaoke potshot at C7’s failed footy show The Bounce?

  39. koverstreet September 24, 2010 at 10:16 am -

Huge win there for Nine and should win them the week. TFS was hilarious in parts last night..especially lol at the send up they did of The Bounce! Instead of “Pretty Woman” they changed it to “Pretty Woeful” :) Ah those crazy footy show boys..

  40. john b September 24, 2010 at 10:12 am -

can Rush make a full recovery back to the 950K it was getting before the Ben Cousin’s doco? Last night it gets 800K and that was up against the Footy Show in Melbourne, which probably took away at least 80K of Rush’s potential audience in that city.

  41. Raza September 23, 2010 at 8:11 pm -

This mite be astupid question but how do all u guys no about the demos?

  42. Jarred September 23, 2010 at 7:16 pm -

Why would Ch 9 make a late change to the broadcast time of the AFL Grand Final Footy Show in Adelaide from 8.30pm to 9.30pm to make room for COPS LAC. Last week, Cops was advertised to return in 2 weeks to make way for GF Footy Show, but now, the GF Footy Show has made way for COPS. Worst still, the GF Footy Show in Melbourne is still being broadcast at 8.30pm, so COPS has to be rescheduled anyway. This is like the stupid illogical broadcast time for the Jim Stynes story in Adelaide. What senseless programmers do nine employ to do such stupid illogical things? Grrrrr!!!!

  43. Goonies September 23, 2010 at 6:37 pm -

I didn’t watch but I find the premise of The Boss to be shameful.

If I want a job I get it based on my abilities in that area not on whether I can cook someone dinner.

How dare you say to someone you can only have a job if you feed me up good.

Now I know it is a tv show but presumably these are all real jobs on offer and some poor pleb has to debase themselves by cooking up din-dins? I guess they chose to debase themselves but still – this is really scraping the bottom of the barrell channel 9.

  44. Maev September 23, 2010 at 5:15 pm -

@ Adam…..I was involved in ratings….many years ago…..I was approached and asked to participate….

  45. Andrew September 23, 2010 at 4:49 pm -

@Adam: You have to be selected at random, otherwise you’d have everyone with vested interests lining up to be included.

  46. Adam September 23, 2010 at 4:25 pm -

Can anyone tell me how I can get included in the ratings number? Can you apply? Or is it more a matter of being approached?

JB, a twin-tuner DVR will solve a lot of your issues. :-) Most of what you mentioned is on ABC, so you just need to record ABC with one tuner, plus another show with the other. I still have my analogue DVDR, in case there’s ever 3 things on at once I want to see, but it very rarely gets used (i.e. 2 tuners is enough 99% of the time).

    Yes, go Border. Great entertainment.

The Boss was just completely and utterly boring to death! I’m from Melbourne and I did turn it for RPA and that was at 9:35, but had another 13 minutes of the boring boss. It finished at 9:48pm when it started at 8:36pm. I mean the block manages 6 minutes over time and this one manages 18! I’d fire the boss for that one! If that’s Nines way of getting people to like it, they just don’t get it! We want RPA, not dinner with the boss!

If anyone who hasnt enjoyed neighbours in last yr i suggest you tune into this week and next week cause lots of good stuff is gonna happen, i’ve seen the spoilers and it looks pretty dam good.
On another note, great to see glee and house return to good numbers and i hope house holds onto them. Looks like 7’s factuals return has worked for them.

  51. Ed September 23, 2010 at 2:16 pm -

@Dino. Failure? Yes. Cooking show rip off? Not even approaching “fact”

  52. Allie September 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm -

The Boss is Coming to Dinner can’t survive on those numbers – 788K nationwide is absolutely pathetic. I expect it to be relegated to GO sooner rather than later.

  53. Dino September 23, 2010 at 1:43 pm -

@ Ed. It’s not mindless, it is fact. The Boss is Coming to dinner was a failure, no other way to spin it. If you cant handle it then get out of the kitchen…so to speak.

  54. David Knox September 23, 2010 at 1:24 pm -

The Boss is Coming to Dinner is new.

  55. Jarred September 23, 2010 at 1:18 pm -

Very competitive night of TV with all 4 major networks getting 20%+ of the daily share. That doesn’t happen very often because ABC are usually sub 20% and TEN usually just scrape in to the 20% mark. If that happened every night on TV then the overall quality of the shows on offer would lift, but thats a big If and you have to live in dreamworld to think that would ever happen.

the best move for 9 to make imo is to swap it with RPA. Boss is too low to keep for an extra week, lower than beat the star premier.

  57. aznfratboy September 23, 2010 at 12:12 pm -

Wednesday is definitely the “must watch” night for Australia, Spicks/ Gruen + new inventors on ABC, Glee/House for TEN, The Block for 9, and soon City Homicide for 7.

Great to see Some semblence of quality TV, just get rid of that awful The Boss thing and it will be great, perhaps Secret Millionairre Wednesday 9:30 would be a better choice.

  58. Ed September 23, 2010 at 11:54 am -

@ Dino, if there was money to be made in mindless negativity and schadenfreude you’d be a billionaire.

  59. Maev September 23, 2010 at 11:31 am -

    Ch.9 news and Current Affair….just getting worse…..

  60. Tony Bee September 23, 2010 at 11:26 am -

I’m surprised Glee didn’t top the ratings, given its popularity among teens (and a guilty pleasure for a few over-teens as well). : )

  61. CK September 23, 2010 at 10:13 am -

very interesting night of ratings with many new shows.
10 would be happy with glee (love it!) and house – a vast improvement on simpsons and lie to me.

CH finally cracks the million thanks to a lacklustre result on ch9 (how long will boss last?). and having border security and force had paid off for ch7

Will be interesting to see how the block goes for ch9

ABC shows doing gr8 again, which is good to see!

  62. Dino September 23, 2010 at 10:10 am -

lol at The Boss Is Coming To Dinner. Nine’s pathetic cooking rip off tanked! The return of The Block was pretty pathetic too.

  63. JB September 23, 2010 at 9:50 am -

You have no idea how happy i am to see City Homicide back above 1 million. That is great. Wednesday is probably the worst day for me cos there’s too many things i watch. City Homicide, Spicks & Specks, Gruen Transfer, House, Lie To Me, United States of Tara. I end up watching Spicks on Thursday on ABC2, unfortunately can’t watch Gruen anymore, and have missed several weeks of Tara because other shows clash.

Thought the Block would fail but looks like they can all rate well at 7.30 without one taking a hit.

  64. chk chk September 23, 2010 at 9:48 am -

I quite enjoyed Boss coming to dinner last night, all the horrors of interview process, don’t wanna go through them ever again!

  65. googly eyes September 23, 2010 at 9:40 am -

So The Block didn’t rate too badly up against stiff competition. In fact, 7.30-8.30p.m. for Seven, Nine, and Ten were over 1 million. Lots of people watching television on Wednesdays.

Glee was great as usual. :-)
