When Jane meets Anna

Jane Badler certainly looks the part, as 'Diana' returns to V as the mother of alien leader 'Anna.'

As many readers know, Jane Badler is reprising her role as Diana on V, returning to the role that defined the original series from 1983-85.

Most recently Badler appeared on Neighbours, after the TEN soap cheekily wrote her a bitch role using the very name Diana. She even sent footage to US producers to prove she can still cut it.

For Badler this resurgence in her career has been a long time coming. In the years she has lived in Australia there have been challenges getting a gig, especially on the small screen.

Badler has spent a good deal of time focussing on theatre and cabaret work, as she recently explained to TV Tonight before getting the call from V.

“I’ve got my music thing which is all happening, but as far as the acting it’s been really difficult to get jobs in this country. So somehow it doesn’t kind of translate in Australia. Maybe I need to move to New York or something,” she said.

V fans are now pumped that she is returning to the series, now as the mother of Anna (Morena Baccarin).

Filming is currently underway in Vancouver.

“From the moment I heard V was coming back, it was something I was hoping to be part of, but they tested a lot of people for this role,” she told TV Guide.

“A lot of years have passed, so it feels good to win something.”

While this is an entirely different take on Diana, she admits it’s been challenging not to slither right back into her wonderfully over-the-top ’80s performance.

“I’m still the way I’ve always been — lots of hair and eyes. A bit Raquel Welch-ish.

“I’m the queen in exile, locked away in a dungeon for 15 years,”she says. “It’s mother abuse!”

  1. Jane is a delight and it’s great to see her having success. She did a photo shoot for one of her albums at my house and I don’t believe her beauty is anything more than good health and a great attitude. It might not be obvious from her work, but she’s a laugh too.
