Jane Hall quits Neighbours

Jane Hall will leave Neighbours after nearly four years, as one of three actors set to depart the TEN soap.

Actress Jane Hall has quit Neighbours, after playing Rebecca Napier for almost four years.

“I’ve decided its time to say ‘au revoir’ to Erinsborough,” Jane, 39, told TV Week.

“It’s sad to be leaving … but I’m looking forward to the future and new and exciting acting
adventures.”

Hall is one of three new resignations.

Matt Werkmeister, 18, has also quit after five and a half years of playing teenager Zeke Kinski.

Meanwhile, Erin Mullally, 20, will also exit only six months after being cast as single dad Declan Napier. Mullally was cast as the character after actor James Sorenson quit the show. Hall plays his on-screen mother in the long-running soap.

  1. what i do know is jane halls contract does not expire until april 2011 and as australia viewers are two months ahead she will be on our screen until at least july next year . carla bonners contract expires in december austrailian time and will be on screen until at least feb next year so who knows but i think steph runs down ringo think donna is in the car as well she is also leaving early next year and so is sam clark who plays ringo looks like steph will bare the brunt and go to prison thats the goss anyway ::)))

  2. Jane Hall was one really good thing about the show in recent years. Margot Robbie was another one. Sadly, they’re both going now. That only leaves Scott Major as a reason for me watching the show.

  3. @Ronnie – puts me in mind of the Split Enz classic, or in Jane’s case with Neighbours, “I just spent four years in a leaky boat, lucky just to keep afloat”. Could it be the ‘enz of an era’ approaching?

  4. We all remember Jane Hall from All Together Now.I still kind of remember the Jon English Jokes about Doc Marten Shoes.

Off the topic a little whose ever dumb idea was it over at channel 10 was to replace it with a news bulletin at 6:30pm?

  5. I really don’t get the hating directed at digital channels – ‘eleven’ in this case and the others in other stories David’s posted.

It’s another channel and surely this is cause for celebration for people who like tv. Yes? No?

I look forward to watching Neighbours on eleven next year with an ever-evolving and ever-revolving cast as has been the case for over 20 years.

  6. Thanks David for including the characters names in your article – the small article in the HS today only had the actors names of Erin and Matt, and I spent all day trying to work out what female character Erin played…oops!

Kate won’t have any other characters her age in the show soon…hmm, probably means they will have to introduce someone specially to be her boyfriend?

Personally hipping this means the exit gives more chance of the Chris Pappas character being developed in the PG timeslot next year. They will need something fresh if they want people to follow it over to Eleven.

  7. Agreed Declan 2.0 leaving is great news, sorry Mr. Mullally if you’re reading this but it’ll teach you not to google yourself… and to stop acting, conversely sad news about Jane and Matt.

  8. It’s kind of funny that so many popular actors have left or decide to retire when a certain producer took over (Ian Smith, Carla Bonner, Tom Oliver and now Jane Hall). I hope that with the move to Eleven they get a new producer on board. Pete McTighe certainly knows lots about the show. Maybe he can restore the show to its best?

  9. Really sad to see Jane Hall leaving – she’s really grown into the role of Rebecca Napier and is one of the better actors on the show. Her experience and talent will be sorely and noticeably missed from Neighbours.

  10. If Stefan Dennis leaves, I will never watch neighbours again! I can’t beleive all the good characters will be leaving Donna, Ringo, Zeke, Rebecca, Harold. however i’m happy Steph and Bad Declan are going, when the original declan left, they should of killed him off, now is image has been ever tarnished by Erin whats his name

  11. So what will neighbours even be like next year? surely there is to be another “revamp” David? Any Inside news on this?

6 Characters gone with the rest past thier use by dates, im guessing alot of hunks and babes and edgier storys?

  12. so ringo, steph, declan, rebecca and donna are all leaving!! This isn’t good news for neighbours, i wonder if it has anything to do with the crap figures it has been getting in the past yr€??

  13. I love Jane Hall as Rebecca. Sorry to see her leave. I feel sorry for the poor boy who plays Declan. It’s always hard to step into an established role. I hope he can get some acting lessons and salvage his career. Sadly, I love this show. It has been particularly frustrating this year with bad acting and bad stories. If it does get the chop for Australian viewers it would be a real shame. Somebody needs to fix it.

  14. Thank gosh new Dec is going! I find him irritating. I wish the old Declan wouldve stayed until the end of the storyline 🙁

It’s sad that Rebecca and Zeke are leaving though. They’re both very talented. Hopefully their actors will go onto to do much better things.

  15. @pete Both Blankeney sisters (Chrissie and Caroline on the show) have ruled out coming back.

I think the best way to combat the mass exodus would to mine the show’s history and try and get some oldies back, and get them to bring in their new kids.

    Jane will be missed.

  16. Wasn’t there word a few weeks back that David Hoflin (who played Oliver, Rebecca’s son) will be returning for a guest stint? Guess that’s when Rebecca and Declan will be leaving
