ABC comedy Lowdown has won three gongs at the Accolade Film, Television, New Media and Videography Awards in Los Angeles.

The comedy about a tabloid reporter whose life is turned upside down by the celebrities he interviews, won two Awards of Excellence for Comedy and Leading Actor (Adam Zwar).

It also won director Amanda Brotchie an award of merit.

It follows recent wins for the series with an Australian Writers’ Guild Award (AWGIE) for Best Comedy and a nomination for Diretor Amanda Brotchie at the Australian Directors’ Guild Awards.

Previous Accolade winners include East West 101 and Wilfred, with Zwar also a co-creator of the latter.

Both Brotchie and Zwar are currently writing season 2 of the ABC comedy.

  1. Good to see smart writing rewarded. Some classic tv, particularly the rehab episode. One of those shows that kept getting better as it went on. Glad they’re making a second season.

  2. A very odd choice for any awards. Not very funny, in fact it was pretty appalling. I will say though it did improve in the last couple of episodes. Still not great but it showed some promise. Very weird that ‘:30 Seconds’, which I found much funnier, got canned but this wins awards. I’ll be watching season 2 in the hope it finds its feet.
