Rumour: Survivor season 22

Spoilers: Is this the next Survivor twist? Warning. Plenty of detail here if it comes true.

Spoiler: Survivor as Redemption Island? Boston Rob v Russell Hantz?

Some internet rumours on Survivor have been known to be accurate before, so take these as you will….

There has been a suggestion that the 22nd Season of Survivor will feature two tribes helmed by former contestants Boston Rob v Russell Hantz.

Both are repeat contestants on the reality series and avowed rivals.

Another suggestion is a “Redemption Island” where voted off contestants will be battling each other to actually remain in the game.

Once they are voted off, they go to the island and wait for the next Tribal Council to vote off the next player. When they arrive, they battle, who ever wins, stays, the loser goes to the jury. This continues until there are only 3 people left in the game. The last Survivor of Redemption Island gets to return to the game.

Controversial Miss USA 2009 runner-up Carrie Prejean is also rumoured to be a contestant.

But where will the show take place? It’s Nicaragua again.

  1. I also heard that rumour a while ago too. I think its true and love the fact that Russell is back but who cares about Boston Rob. I also heard alot about how Russell goes in the game but I won’t spoil it for everyone, will have to wait and see.

  2. Survivor is running dangerously close to falling apart.

Bringing back Russell for his third season out of the last four is a terrible move. Bringing Rob back for his fourth shot is even worse.

What makes Survivor great is the concept of having *strangers* deal with, as Jeff says in every opening episode, ‘the elements, each other and themselves’. The more they bring back people who’ve already played, the further away from what makes Survivor great they get.

They have misjudged the popularity and ratings potential of these two IMO. Overkill.

  3. Season 22?!?! Have to admit I had no idea they’d reached that point. Kind of lost interest after about the 4th. Surely they’ll soon be running short of wild and inaccessible slices of ‘virgin’ paradise to challenge them. What say the producers mix things up a little and land the contestants in a wild and all too accessible slice of urban chaos and see how they survive that.

  4. I thought it was confirmed about Boston Rob and Russell facing off? That is going to be gold, I hope Boston Rob mans up for it.

One of the person who is rumoured to be behind a lot of the rumours is Russell Hantz wife.

  5. I’m hoping none of this is true, to be honest. Russell and Rob are good charatcers, but there’s such a thing as overkill. The Redemption Island twist sounds overbaked, and Carrie Prejean? Survivor really doesn’t need stunt casting.

I’d be happy with a back to basics season 22 – a lean cast of 16 people instead of the recent surplus of 20, good casting, no repeat players. We just had Heroes Vs Villains; I’d happily wait another four seasons before any past players returns.

  6. ever since this was brought up at the heroes verses villain finale i have thought it would be a great idea. it may be too soon for another all stars season though. what i think would be great would be normal players being mentored by russell and rob,it would be great if they lived at the camps helped them in challenges but couldn’t be voted out and which ever one has a player that wins also gets a million.

  7. Boston’s Rob’s been on it too many times! Give others who have been voted out a chance however I’d love to see Russell back. i’m loving this series buts its just not the same without him.

  8. i would hate hate hate hate to see rob vs. russell! what if russell gets voted off right away, like he should..then its all stars with boston rob. i Guess i could see a type of guatemala format when they just bring 2 ppl back but theyre not the focus. id like to see a 2nd chance survivor when they bring back contestants that left too early

  9. Must cost a lot of money to setup an island with all the areas for challenges, tribes, and the crew, cameras, lighting, etc. I don’t blame them for not wanting to do a new place every year.

On screen, all the islands look the same, anyway.

  10. They have to film back to back seasons in the same location because of budget cuts. Hence why we got the Samoa/Heroes vs Villains combo and now Nicaragua/Redemption Isle (?).
