Shelton told Nova listeners on Tuesday he will leave the national drive show at the end of the year.

“I signed up for one year and ended up staying for two,” Shelton said in a statement.

“Monty and Wippa are and always will be two of my closest friends and I’ll definitely miss seeing them at work every day but I’m excited about the chance to throw myself back into TV full time and re-engaging with all those opportunities.”

Shelton, who began on Channel 31, was a cast member of Rove and has made guest appearances on Thank God You’re Here and Spicks and Specks.

The TV future for Hamish and Andy still remains unclear, aside from the fact the two are devoting more time and energy into the small screen in 2011.

They are yet to announce any network deals.

  1. His Rove segments were awful – Never heard him on radio and looks like I won’t get the chance now – Please stay behind the camera – maybe a better writer than actor / radio presenter?

  2. I hope you are being sarcastic KFed. Hamish and Andy, Rove, Ryan, Will Anderson etc have not have one original thought in their entire careers, you can see the ‘joke’ coming from a mile away. It’s cringe worthy.

  3. I would love Hamish and Andy to do a Rove type show.

Or put their radio show on tv. Like all the funny sketches they do, make them for tv and when they just talk to each other on radio or tell a story about what happened, they could do the same on tv. just talk to each other on a couch.

also, they could ask the audience for their input to their stories like they do when they ask people to ring up the show.

and they could interview celebrity guests like they do on their radio show. they are amazing on their radio show. why not bring that style to the tv. we need it.

ohh yeh and make it on sunday nights too. live or pre-recorded, we don’t care. it will still be good

  4. This article would be greatly improved if, in the opening paragraph, after the words “Ryan Shelton is leaving radio…” it said “…and television and all forms of employment that would expose him to an audience.

  5. I can smell a Rove style interview/sketch/music guest show on the Horizon! I do however think a younger skewed Hey Hey will work, maybe give us something to watch again on Sunday night!

  6. ryan is so funny on camera…i remember him on rove doing those little stories on stupid topics

but on radio…i couldn’t stand him…he tried so hard to be funny with all his jokes…u could tell they were scripted

but on tv he was hilarious for some reason…and i know all his jokes were scripted on tv too but for some reason it just worked
