Seven confirms new Sunrise Executive Producer

Seven confirms The Morning Show's Michael Pell will replace Adam Boland as Executive Producer of Sunrise.

The Seven Network has (finally) confirmed Michael Pell as the new Executive Producer of Sunrise.

Pell, who has been Executive Producer of both The Morning Show and Weekend Sunrise, will take over in November from Adam Boland who is stepping down from his role, but remaining as a consultant to the network.

Pell said in a statement, “Sunrise is one of TV’s best known brands and I’m honoured to be given the chance to lead it.”

Peter Meakin, Seven’s Director of News and Public Affairs, described Pell as “Adam’s logical successor – as energetic as he is creative. He will do a great job.”

Adam Boland added, “I feel really comfortable handing over a show I care so much about to someone as skilled as Michael. Sunrise is in very safe hands.”

The appointment was the worst-kept secret in the industry, and confirmed by this website last month.

David Koch recently told TV Tonight the 28 year old assumes the role at the same age Boland took over.

“We looked outside because that’s what you should do. You should get the very best. It just confirmed exactly what we thought, we’ve got the best on side already,” he said.

Boland, who is also Director of Morning Television & Strategic Initiatives for Seven, steps down in late November.

Seven will announce a new executive producer for The Morning Show in coming weeks.

  1. I worked with Michael at Sky News Australia when he was a young 20 year old. He has come far in this industry in a very short time. He’s a great producer and Sunrise is in very good hands.

  2. was he EPing the morning show this morning by any chance? i was watching it and was surprised how entertaining such a simple format can be with good producing and some good hosts (it was sonia&larry this morning). good job and sunrise is in good hands if it was him.
