Airdate: Statesmen of Comedy

By David Knox on November 12, 2010 / Filed Under Pay TV 5

Trevor Marmalade has been welcomed back to a regular TV series via The Comedy Channel, two years after being dumped from The Footy Show on Nine.

The Pay TV channel has commissioned 15 episodes of Statesmen of Comedy to be produced by McGuire Media, run by Eddie McGuire.

Joining him along the way will be Glenn Robbins, Jane Kennedy, Shane Bourne, Greg Fleet, Peter Rowsthorn, Rachel Berger, Tim Smith, Anthony Morgan and Jason Stephens among others.

“This is the sort of show I’ve always wanted to do,” Trevor Marmalade said. The best thing about being a comic is that you get to hang around with other comedians. For years we’ve sat around lounge rooms and restaurants having a laugh together and always said it should be a show. Thanks to Foxtel and The Comedy Channel now it is!”

Statesmen of Comedy is one of several new shows joining Comedy, including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Modern Family.

Comedy Channel Manager Alex Ristevski said “We are thrilled to have Trevor and Co., Jimmy and Modern Family on board in December and especially pleased to be adding exclusive first run content to our programming slate.”

The half hour series will begin Sunday December 5, at 8.30pm.

@Dylan: Have to agree, the pilot was so bad and boring. I won’t be watching.

I’m just glad there’s a heap of new content coming to Comedy, it’s been stale for months.
