Conan update

Originally due to air on GEM tomorrow night, Conan will now begin on Wednesday night instead.

Originally due to premiere on GEM tomorrow night, Conan will now begin on Wednesday night instead.

A spokesperson for GEM advised TV Tonight there are some (frustrating) delays in relation to acquiring the programme from cable channel TBS as well as some issues with international clearances.

It hopes to resolve these and pursue same day / date broadcasts in coming weeks.

Episode 1 will now be seen 11:30pm Wednesday on GEM.

  1. Don’t see why people are complaining about the musical clearence thing, most late night tv shows have their material finalised at the last minute, I doubt they take into account International rights considering it’s an American talk show generally discussing American issues.

We also know that record companies can be a total pain in the a*se to work with. (Re: Top Gear soundtrack selection outside of BBC)

  2. Going by my PVR it is:

    Wed Ep 1 @ 11:30pm
    Thu Ep 2 @ 11:30pm
Sat Ep 3 @ 0:15am (ie; just after Midnight Friday)
    Sat Ep 4 @ 11:50pm

So all 4 are going to be shown by that and hopefully at those times (as I’ve set to record then).

  3. I just hope this is not the start, surely they would have had this all sorted weeks id not months ago, They have known for a long time the shows start date, I agree stuff ups like this is one reason people turn to other sources for their TV shows.

The music clearance should not be an issue, if that is the problem and th reason for the delay.

  4. They could just have an episode on the Monday to catch up since they’re not doing episodes on Friday nights that would normally be shown here on Monday.

  5. It’s one day. Surely people can wait.

I did read on the barely credible TVauscast website that they will remain an episode behind as a result but surely they will play an episode over the first weekend to get in sync.

  6. As long as we get all 4 this week, I’ll be happy…

Also, not sure when it happened, but I love the mobile version of the site, David…Looks brilliant on the iPhone!!!
