Michael and Jessie win Beauty & the Geek

Michael and Jessie beat Tamika and Thomas to win $100,000 to share.

Seven’s second season of Beauty and the Geek Australia was won by Michael and Jessie.

The two beat Tamika and Thomas to win $100,000 to share.

After a pentathlon, a ‘wedding’ they faced a pop quiz. With both couples on a tie, Jessie won the contest after having to choose a baby photo of Michael. For this challenging feat the two win the same amount of money as MasterChef‘s champ Adam Liaw.

Seven’s manufactured but feelgood Cinderella show had performed well this season, with its “makeover” episode hitting over 1.4m viewers.

  1. I didn’t notice Xenogene in this, but I did recognise him the the Tony Abbott Q&A – he asked Mr. “I’m not a tech-head” about the NBN, and explained baud rates to him! 🙂

  2. @ Qubec

I also saw Xenogene and I think one or two other past geeks in the background from time to time. I guess it was an in-joke devised by someone in the production staff? Or Xenogene has gone crazy and was threatening to murder Bernard Curry if they didn’t allow him to “participate” in season 2?

  3. OK, I hope this doesn’t sound too crazy! But, didn’t anyone notice that last season’s contestant Xenogene was in the background of many episodes. He was one of the people sitting by the hotel pool during that challenge, he was going up an elevator at the shopping centre during the boy band challenge and he was one of the attendees at last night’s wedding…

Please say that other people saw this and I’m not some strange conspiracy theorist! Any thoughts with what’s with the Spot The Past Geek?

PS, happy that Michael and Jessie won, but agreed that they got easier questions!

  4. Good news. They both seemed like nice people, although it seemed very clear that Jessie played up the “dumb blonde” stereotype when she actually did quite well in the “mental/intellectual” challenges. I’m not sure all the geeks would have known how to spell “amphibious” on their first try.

Although, the “challenges” leading up to the elemination of Daniel and Donna didn’t seem to have much to do with the premise of the show. How is running a chariot around a track meant to make the geeks more confident or make the beauties more intelligent? Same goes for the Cinderella’s slipper challenge which didn’t appear to have anything to do with increasing the geeks self-confidence.
