Tropscore open for entries

The third annual contest for new film composers is now open to experienced and amateur musicians, composers, bands and artists.

MAX supports Tropscore, the contest for new film composers. Now in its third year, the search is part of the Movie Extra-sponsored Tropfest.

The contest is open to experienced and amateur musicians, composers, bands and artists of all ages, with the opportunity to be able to showcase their talent in front of key industry figures and the general public.

Entrants must create an original musical score or synch for a three minute short film that has been produced by David Hansen, an emerging Australian film-maker. Last year hundreds of musicians entered the competition which saw emerging artist, Zac Cranko win the title.

“Music and film go hand in hand and this competition recognises the valuable contribution that musicians and composers make to the film process,” said Shaun James, General Manager, XYZnetworks Music Channels. “Whether you are an established or emerging artist, MAX Tropscore remains to be a fantastic  outlet for profiling your work both in the film and music industries, as well as to the wider Australian audience. MAX is proud to continue to be associated with this initiative that supports and rewards our musicians, and we can’t wait to uncover some great talent.”

John Polson, Director and Founder of Tropfest added, “We started MAX Tropscore three years ago to highlight the important role that music plays in film. Musicians and composers from Australia and overseas have really embraced the competition and I’m sure 2011 will be no different.”

Register at www.maxtv.com.au/tropscore. Entries close Thursday 13 January 2011.
