@Me Me – because that would be less accurate. The individual raw capital numbers add up to a number that is closer to 665,000 (as in my example).

  2. Me Me November 23, 2010 at 12:18 pm -

    @ Secret Squïrrel

so why not just put 666.000 thats what it adds up to

  3. Secret Squïrrel November 23, 2010 at 11:25 am -

Fine. So it’s still a rounding artifact, just the other way around.

    eg 122,800 + 366,800 + 80,800 + 62,800 + 31,800 = 665,000

  4. Me Me November 23, 2010 at 8:16 am -

@Jarred – Really no excuse for a multip billion dollar business. Adelaide seemed to have a heck of issues, why only Adelaide and multiple weeks in a row for Hey hey only! From the information I have other shows were fine but once HHIS come on they had technical issues. Seems a bit odd!
These cuts may have something to do with these errors too?!?!

  6. Secret Squïrrel November 22, 2010 at 3:24 pm -

@Me Me – the individual capital city figures are rounded to the nearest thousand. Presumably, the total is calculated from the raw capital city data and then is itself rounded. For example, the cap city raw numbers might have been
    123,400 + 366,800 + 81,200 + 62,900 + 32,100 = 666,400 rounded down to 666,000

  7. Me Me November 22, 2010 at 11:21 am -

    = 666 000

Jerry I live in Adelaide and you are correct, I made a comment about it on here last week regarding HHIS with specific issues. The Adelaide TV Guide Mailbag had numerous comments on this issue and said that they were flicking the channels and never coming back. A now former Ch9 Adelaide insider said that jobs have been cut in the Adelaide studios (including the insider) so maybe they are short staffed and can’t handle it.

  10. Karebear November 22, 2010 at 8:37 am -

Thanks Donald for the info re Man about the house, etc. Loving these old Brit comedies.

  11. Jerry November 22, 2010 at 6:33 am -

Hey Hey It’s Saturday seems to be quite a topic on here. Here are some more information on the issue.

HHIS ratings have been dealt a nasty blow and more importantly Ch9 would feel a bit “red faced” after showing the rugby instead of HHIS in states outside of Victoria and Tasmania. The rugby seemed to rank poorly across the board and also at a reduction to what HHIS averages. Bad move Ch9, was not quite as big of a hit as they expected.

For the past 3 weeks HHIS has been having major technical problems in South Australia. South Australians on facebook are calling it a boycott to get the show off air. For 3 weeks in a row? Well they have reason to complain. With bad Audio etc viewers are going to switch elsewhere, could infact be a reason ratings are down. Not sure of this occouring in other states except 3 weeks ago QLD claimed they were having issues too but since then no reports of problems.

HHIS in Victoria were issue free, so what is going on in the other states? Seems to be someone is not doing their job right at Ch9 and if it’s a boycott the person responsibly should be sacked. (not that anyone will ever be able to prove it)

But to have issues 3 weeks in a row only on HHIS there is issues that need to be addressed there!

A recent poll on TvTonight asking what show they would like to see back in 2011 I believe HHIS won the vote, correct me if I am wrong. I never actually saw the final results. Can these be posted please if possible?

I’m for HHIS to return, it’s about time some true Australian Comedy is back on our screen instead of all these reality tv shows which are not as reality as you think.

    Cheers!

  12. ryan November 22, 2010 at 1:56 am -

Oh my god for anyone who actually watches the morning show over the circle must be mad! The circle is hilarious! Good and long interviews, i always get a laugh every time i watch:)

  13. ducko November 21, 2010 at 6:08 pm -

KAK wasn’t shown in Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane on Wed, Thurs & Friday due to the cricket. It was only shown for an hour each day in Syd. & Melb. So it didn’t go head to head with the Circle on any of those days.

  14. Bruce Banner November 21, 2010 at 5:25 pm -

Only one more week to go Ed, and then it will be gone for good… until Channel 9 need something to prop up ratings and decides that nostalgia from 25 years ago is a good idea.

  15. Donald November 21, 2010 at 5:12 pm -

Hi Karebear. I believe G&M was a spin-off from Man About The House, though I can’t say with 100% certainty. Robin’s Nest was a sequel series to Man About The House, where he sets up his own restaurant (in MATH he is studying cooking at TAFE, or whatever they call it over there). I won’t say any more due to spoilers. :-)

  16. Jason D. November 21, 2010 at 5:01 pm -

It won’t be long before Gardening Australia beats Hey Hey It’s Saturday in the ratings :O , that’s not a joke either.

  17. Karebear November 21, 2010 at 4:56 pm -

Just wondering did Man About the House come before that George and Mildred show or vice versa. Never saw Robin’s Nest. Always get a good laugh out of the others though.

  18. Maev November 21, 2010 at 4:31 pm -

i prefer ‘The Circle’..but was KAK even on….thought the cricket was on?!?

  19. Donald November 21, 2010 at 3:48 pm -

Exceptionally low figures for Saturday – 68,000 gets you into the top 100! Good to see Man About The House still popular after all these years though. Hopefully it will be followed by Robin’s Nest when finished.

  20. Jarred November 21, 2010 at 2:56 pm -

Here are HHIS’s ratings for the second block of episodes this year:
    6 979,000 262,000 399,000 141,000 97,000 80,000
    6 878,000 252,000 332,000 136,000 97,000 61,000
    7 850,000 224,000 370,000 91,000 108,000 57,000
    7 774,000 200,000 316,000 121,000 80,000 57,000
    9* 665,000 123,000 367,000 81,000 63,000 32,000
    7 679,000 147,000 312,000 112,000 74,000 34,000

It would appear that besides the week that the rugby was on (*), HHIS has been very consistent holding the 6th or 7th ranking each week, however, the number of viewers has decreased over the period. I wouldn’t exactly call that a failure or worthy of the axe, but the reduction in viewers each week is concerning.

  21. Jerome November 21, 2010 at 2:14 pm -

heyhey has been thrown so many lifelines. any other show with its ratings would have been axed long ago, let alone a show with such high production costs. its almost at a dallar spent on production per viewer if the reports of its cost are true. the demos arent good either. there is no reason for 9 to renew it for next year.

  22. Allie November 21, 2010 at 12:46 pm -

With the exception of Melbourne, I think it is fair to say that Australians have voted with their remote – they are completely disinterested in HHIS. Say goodnight, Daryl, it’s over. One city can’t sustain this tired old dinosaur.

  23. Ed November 21, 2010 at 12:45 pm -

  25. Bruce Banner November 21, 2010 at 12:16 pm -

So was there an excuse this week as to why HHIS is rating poorly? Late time slots? Rugby?

  26. Pete November 20, 2010 at 10:32 pm -

i wanted to watch big bang on wednesday, but they show “William and Kate: A Royal Engagement.” I have nothing against the Royal Family, but they haven’t even got married yet! Who cares if someone got engaged, the marriage is the most important thing. Thanks to this debacle im starting to figure out different ways to keep myself entertained on wednesday nights. Nine is so cheap, they can play boring repeats but doesn’t care about new episodes.

  27. Donald November 20, 2010 at 9:54 pm -

Oops! Just realised that was Friday night, not Saturday night. So used to seeing those figures on a Saturday I got confused for a sec. Looking back though, this isn’t unusual for a Friday either. Ten really need to fix up their weekends.

  28. Donald November 20, 2010 at 9:51 pm -

Darryn, Saturday is always a weak night for Ten – they’ve done worse than 14.6 before! Saturday is always very strong for the ABC (Doc Martin, The Bill, New Tricks, etc.), and it seems they’re taking viewers from Ten (more than once the ABC has beat Ten on a Saturday night).

  29. Darryn November 20, 2010 at 8:26 pm -

Shows are not strictly head to head but The Circle beat KAK on Wed, Thu, Fri. TMS won all five days.

  31. Donald November 20, 2010 at 5:43 pm -

Anon, shows in the top 100 but outside the top 30 are listed at David’s discretion, though looking back over the last few weeks KAK’s figures are low enough to not be making the top 100 some days. I’d venture to say that yes, The Circle is beating KAK, but David may clarify that later if in fact that’s not the case. The Circle definitely has better baseline figures than KAK from what I’ve seen in any case, but KAK seems to get better spikes.

i feel sorry that tim went on B&TG, but definetly think that kara deserved to go, especially after how rude she was to him after the singing/dancing challange, and her claim that only her and tim can get rid of daniel and donna.
can’t wait for next weeks final!
Is Warnie premiering on a Wed instead of its home on Thurs so it doesn’t go up against the B&TG finale?

  33. Anon November 20, 2010 at 3:58 pm -

In recent days has The Circle been beating Kerri Anne?
Its just that KAK isnt mentioned in the top list for the days, but The Morning Show and The Circle have? Or have the figures just been added in that way and KAK is still beating The Circle?

  34. Donald November 20, 2010 at 2:32 am -

Secret Squirrel, Wednesday night, which Karebear was referring to, was a new ep. We now don’t know when it is going to be on. Do try to keep up with the latest information – it can all be found on the site.

  35. Secret Squïrrel November 19, 2010 at 8:38 pm -

    @Donald – it won’t be a new ep, it’ll be a repeat.

  36. Rutzie November 19, 2010 at 7:31 pm -

B&TGeek will definitely get a third series. I really hope Thomas wins. What a legend! Disappointing to see Tim go last night, I was really hoping Daniel got booted out.

  37. Joe November 19, 2010 at 5:37 pm -

Shouldn’t the cricket be under session 3? That would be the highest rating session as most people are hone from work by that time. Unless you just didn’t publish session 3s ratings

  38. Donald November 19, 2010 at 5:16 pm -

Secret Squirrel, David has already confirmed there are no more new eps of TBBT this year, so no it won’t be on next week or over summer. 9 pulled it off, and we don’t know when it will be on.

  39. Goonies November 19, 2010 at 3:18 pm -

I agree that the start of Rush was absolutely woeful and I completely concur with Kerry’s assessment of their antics i.e. ‘Losers’

The rest of the ep was pretty good though. I think the reduction to 13 eps is good because this season seems like it is dragging on.

I am a little bit over all this beat the living daylights out of a suspect too. Last weeks ep with Josh beating the bomber was just too much. Police don’t have that right no matter how frustrated they may be.

  40. Nathan November 19, 2010 at 2:25 pm -

@Tommo Graham Norton is repeated on Saturday nights at 10:20pm

  41. ryan November 19, 2010 at 2:00 pm -

Rush was brilliant last night! Loved seeing another side of kerry as a mother, she is a fantastic actress. And the burn notice finale was great aswell with michael getting shot in the end! Can’t wait for next season!!

  42. JB November 19, 2010 at 1:24 pm -

Yep another great episode of Rush last night (except for the start, come on we’re expected to believe a whole police unit would go to a park in the middle of the night and all fire at a clocktower!) Rush isn’t even up against decent competition so dunoo where the people are.

I guess the extra few hundred thousand that tuned in to see the makeovers weren’t impressed with Beauty and the Geek.

  43. Tommo November 19, 2010 at 1:11 pm -

Does anyone know the criteria for which the ABC uses when deciding what to put on iview?
I missed Graham Norton last night due to power issues and wanted to catch up but it’s not there. Is there a restriction on overseas shows they upload or is GN considered too risque for publication?

  44. Harry November 19, 2010 at 12:47 pm -

Oh Rush.. I will never understand why you rate so low. Last nights ep was great.

  45. Secret Squïrrel November 19, 2010 at 12:26 pm -

@Karebear – it’ll be on again in a week or two, and prob several more times over summer.

  46. Karebear November 19, 2010 at 11:33 am -

Not impressed!!! I sat down to watch TBBT last night (which I had recorded on Wednesday night) to find the stupid royal engagement program there instead. Boring!!!!!!!!

  47. dave November 19, 2010 at 10:58 am -

Ducko, maybe it is just too tense and chaotic, as well made as it is – the promos put me off. The female promo voice over is just way too intense and phony. I love Aussie drama, but i don’t want to be any more tense and stressed than i already am. But i am pleased it is getting renewed. It seems to have a loyal core audience. Sometimes that has to be enough.

  48. ozzzie November 19, 2010 at 10:19 am -

the pilot ep of breaking bad is the best pilot for a show i have ever seen. and the great thing is that it keeps getting better as the seasons progress.

  49. ducko November 19, 2010 at 10:10 am -

The Rush disaster continues. But wait, it’s been renewed.
I know it was the best episode ever, so why aren’t people watching?

  50. chk chk November 19, 2010 at 9:52 am -

HI David, have you got any numbers for Conan?

  51. Trix November 19, 2010 at 12:38 am -

thanks @v, you renew my hope in an appreciative, intelligent audience.

  52. v November 19, 2010 at 12:05 am -

@Tony H i am so happy i have no idea who you are talking about, sounds pretty typical of a ch 9 show though.

  53. Tony H. November 18, 2010 at 10:17 pm -

The fact people watch a show with “characters” called Chez & Brenton proves that anyone watching Channel 9 shouldn’t be allowed the vote. Reading a book or picking out your fluff from your naval would actually improve your IQ, but watching a 9 show?????? Gawd help us!

  54. v November 18, 2010 at 10:02 pm -

Ch 2 is awesome Thursday night, Rake 8.30 then Breaking Bad.

I really love Rake, for me its the best Aussie show on TV at the moment.

They have started breaking bad from the start so if you have never seen it you should really give it a go cause its an absolutely awesome show!

    I love you ch2!

  55. steve November 18, 2010 at 8:41 pm -

    raising hope was great

  56. Elizabeth November 18, 2010 at 6:14 pm -

Very disappointed in the editing of The Block last night. I am not a fan of Chez and Brenton, as the way Chez is portrayed leaves the audience seeing her as unpleasant, but I was touched to see Brenton propose to Chez only to be cut to an add break half way through his proposal. The one time I was seeing a nice side of the couple and it was destroyed in seconds. Thanks Channel 9 :(

  57. reesie November 18, 2010 at 5:22 pm -

    ummm….
Big Bang wasn’t on Wednesday night…. it says ep 1 and ep 2… but there was no eps.
it was more Royal Wedding s**t.
so i assume those are the ratings for that. haha what a fail Ch. 9.

  58. catherine November 18, 2010 at 4:37 pm -

Another great episode of City Homicide. I was very confused with the Good Wife last night. It just ended and im not even sure what the outcome was with the Kent guy. Were they going ahead or not because the woman walked out.

  59. TDJ November 18, 2010 at 4:27 pm -

Nine are really pushing their luck. What type of morons are in control of this crap network. First Top Gear Australia just vanishes from our screens with no explanation and now Big Bang Theory is dumped for the typically overdone news crap. Once again with no explanation as to when it will be aired. People are sick and bloody tired of being screwed around by imbeciles. Guess what you arrogant fools, it just takes one push of a button to turn the networks off permanently.

  60. Tasmanian de√il November 18, 2010 at 4:21 pm -

Outnumbered charted for once! I’ll bet S4 will be shown first run on ABC 1.

  61. Donald November 18, 2010 at 4:08 pm -

Fair enough David. Just thought it’d save you having to moderate all these extra comments it brings in as a result. :-)

  62. mak November 18, 2010 at 3:47 pm -

How can the judges on JMC give 11/10???
Just goes to show that they wanted close scores (they had already marked the leader 10/10). They wanted close scores so the kids wouldn’t be dissappointed and cry. How commendable. What a joke.

Everyones a winner and not much difference between the top two in prizes.
    How commendable. What a joke.

These kids are going to expect that sort of “kid glove” treatment in the future. How commendable. What a joke.

  63. David Knox November 18, 2010 at 3:02 pm -

Donald: No. Not up to me to go amending ratings. Networks can live with their choices.
