In regards to the ABC on Saturday night, it seems to be a case of “show it and they will watch”. Not saying the current shows are bad, just that the line-up has changed yet again, but ABC still does exceptional on Saturday night, never drops off. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s Doc Martin, The Bill, New Tricks, Spooks, Bed Of Roses, people watch ABC on a Saturday night.

  2. Steven December 5, 2010 at 9:53 pm -

ABC news beat 7 news in Melb last night. Good 2 see Miss Jo. Hall beat them both!!

  3. Karebear December 5, 2010 at 6:12 pm -

I just looked at my EPG and counted Nine (9!!!) episodes of Two and a half men between tonight and thurs night! That doesn’t even include the 7.00 eps the major cities apparently get (I’m in regional QLD – we don’t get them here). That’s just tragic!!!!

  4. Nik C December 5, 2010 at 1:24 pm -

Congrats to ABC and Bed of Roses for a great result last night :)

  6. Eye Spy December 4, 2010 at 6:31 pm -

You can read channel 9′s mind like a book. Front a national sporting star (particularly one of their own contractees) on a chat show (with mindless skits) and it will rate through the roof. I don’t know that Warnie is that stupid that he would believe that himself but but you can’t blame him for taking the cash. The people in tv land that inhabit the exec. suites are so out of touch. Even the trashy tabloids blog respondents thought it was a woeful show. Say no more.

  7. JB December 4, 2010 at 6:24 pm -

@secret squirrel, it was a rhetorical question. Rush is a brillaint show, the best on offer on a Thursday night, i’m just mystified people choose to watch the other crap and only come back to Rush in Summer. Hopefully they will keep watching it next year.

  8. ducko December 4, 2010 at 3:25 pm -

    @ Secret Squirrell,
Was it their Q’s or IQ’s you were referring to?

  9. Secret Squïrrel December 4, 2010 at 12:40 pm -

@Harry and JB – I don’t know if your Q’s are rhetorical but Rush is obviously picking up viewers whose first and second choices are not on over summer. This sort of thing happens every year.

  10. ryan December 4, 2010 at 1:32 am -

Watched the warnie show for 5 mins last night and it was shocking, he seemed like this sleazy guy who kept looking at his notes to see what questions were next. Very poor, also way too much makeup.
On another note, great night for ten, Rush was brilliant, has anyone else noticed how good its been in the past 5,6 weeks?? It seems to be getting better by the ep.

  11. JB December 4, 2010 at 12:28 am -

And Rush is back in the game. Great epsiode, better ratings. Why can’t that many people watch it all the time? It’s the best thing on Thursday nights.

    lol at Warnie.

  12. Harry December 3, 2010 at 3:15 pm -

Happy with the Rush figure – why couldnt it rate like that in normal ratings? lol

  13. Simmo_Sports nut December 3, 2010 at 2:10 pm -

    Donald,

Im not against one hd. The point to be made is that it need more clout and agression in obtaining programming for its channel. The fact that it has been unable to secure both epl and rugby union rights in the past 12 months is an indication that they are lacking a bit of clout in the market place.

  14. James December 3, 2010 at 2:10 pm -

Whats up with GO! this week?
First they pull BBT for summer, then last night they play 2 episodes and tonight they’ve got another 4 ep’s, bumping The 3 Amigos to 9.30. They’re playing more BBT and 2.5 men this week than they normally do in ratings weeks.
    Looks a bit desperate.

  15. Secret Squïrrel December 3, 2010 at 2:10 pm -

Thanks AB. For a moment there I thought I’d been duped.

  18. Karebear December 3, 2010 at 11:01 am -

  20. stephen December 2, 2010 at 8:32 pm -

Does this mean 7pm project is winning it’s timeslot? haha good on them

  21. Rutzie December 2, 2010 at 7:52 pm -

It’s clear people are turning to the digital channels already with 7TWO and 7mate between them pulling in just over 10% of the share last night helping Seven win easily. 7TWO actually beat SBS last night.

  22. Goonies December 2, 2010 at 5:47 pm -

Well I guess the lack of comments here in the ratings section is a good indication of how terrible summer tv is and it is only the first week or something!

  23. ryan December 2, 2010 at 12:50 pm -

Finally a promo for 11!! Did notice new sytycd america added to the chanenel. which is awesome!

  24. dave December 2, 2010 at 10:30 am -

A better, but still indecent number for the final of The Librarians series 3. I hope Robyn Butler gets Logie nominated, either for the series, or her individual performance. She was wonderful in it. Seeing as they are so short on local product – i hope they run the three series back to back and give viewers a solid run of its brilliance.

  25. DansDans December 1, 2010 at 3:56 pm -

@Donald – I agree, they are the movies I would prefer to see too if they persist in showing sports movies.

I just hope to god Happy Gilmore is not listed…

  26. mv December 1, 2010 at 3:51 pm -

Anyone know if Ideal will be coming back to ABC 2? I miss that show… they took it off a few weeks ago, not quite the same late Thursday night with out it! Pulling and How Not To Live Your Life were also pretty funny as well.

Love your work Goonies! and maybe you could watch Rake before Breaking Bad. Wishful thinking maybe?! lol

Anyone watch Shameless on Monday night SBS? just discovered it, so wrong and hilarious at the same time. Will definitely have to go back and watch the earlier episodes.

  27. Donald December 1, 2010 at 3:48 pm -

P.S. Ten’s numbers have also increased pretty much across the board this week – daytime shows, 7pm project, etc. Huey got 347! 7pm might now get a chance to repair the damage done by the games.

  28. Donald December 1, 2010 at 3:45 pm -

Andrew B, it’s not building, that was a huge jump all of a sudden! L&N usually gets around 102-106, then all of a sudden a 132? Don’t know what caused that sudden jump (though the end of ratings may mean less competition for it now?).

  29. Trix December 1, 2010 at 1:12 pm -

David why dont they bring back Gordan Ramsey Back to 930 its clearly rating well at 1030 its a great show theres nothing else good on at 930

  32. mv December 1, 2010 at 10:56 am -

    @TDJ Well said! Totally agree

I wonder why ch 7 have such a fantastic show like the Soprano’s but put it on at 11.30 Monday night?

I have already seen every episode but have enjoyed watching it again as there is so much in it. I used to tape it when on 11.30 Tuesday Ch72. Then i got excited when i saw it was going to Ch 73, as i stupidly thought it would be on at a reasonable time, but no! Still 11.30 but now i cannot tape it as don’t have a HD DVD recorder. Thanks heaps ch 7! Bunch of ignorant idiots.

I could program a TV station better than these people!

  33. Jake S December 1, 2010 at 10:17 am -

Wow, How I Met Your Mother repeats are really dragging down Seven’s primetime. Lucky their multichannels are strong.

  34. dave December 1, 2010 at 10:10 am -

I agree on Carol Burnett, iconic and legendary comedienne – but she was no beauty to start with. As with Bea Arthur, Joan Rivers, plastic surgery can look just plain awful, pardon the pun. We know why they do it.

  35. Kuttsywood December 1, 2010 at 10:02 am -

What did Surf Patrol reruns pull in Brisbane by the way?

  36. Allie December 1, 2010 at 9:04 am -

@TDJ – brilliant post, couldn’t have said it better myself. For sheer incompetence, reactionary thinking, poor judgment and general, all-round cluelessness, look no further than the boardroom of any of our commercial TV networks.

Very ordinary episode of Glee last night, it really is a hit-and-miss show. The previous week’s episode was brilliant but Monday night’s wedding episode stank. Re Carol Burnett, totally agree with Sam, she has destroyed her face with too much cosmetic surgery. She looks so freaky.

  37. Donald December 1, 2010 at 6:05 am -

DansDans, I agree that calling The Fan a sports movie is a tenuous link, but I’m not against them showing genuine sports movies. e.g. Le Mans, The Club, Invincible, We Are Marshall, etc. I would love to see Fighting Back, which was mentioned in this week’s showing of America’s Game (Rocky Bleier of the Pittsburgh Steelers was conscripted for Vietnam right after being drafted by the Steelers, was injured in duty, and needed to “fight back” from his injury to be able to play football again. Perhaps they could make a movie like this about Webber and his bike accident ;-) ).

Simmo_Sports nut, there are a lot of people who watch sport on One, not necessairly in primetime (which is all that counts in daily share) and want very much for Packer to keep his hands off. David had a poll about it a while ago, showing very strong support for keeping One as is.

  38. David Knox November 30, 2010 at 11:12 pm -

This is why I noted a lot of the good content had been soaked up by digital channels this year.

  39. Guy November 30, 2010 at 10:44 pm -

TEN always planned to stop Glee after last night and go into repeats. It sucks but thats television for you. Guess we have nothing left in the schedules now until the Tennis kicks in. I can’t believe how bare the schedules are this year.

  40. TDJ November 30, 2010 at 10:07 pm -

Tis the season to turn these idiots off. It has been a year of utter crap and unimaginable incompetence from networks. If you ever needed an example of people that are so useless and clueless at running their business, it would be television networks. Especially the commercial networks who prove that greed and self interest make one very useless and incapable of intelligent thought. The dead period has started, the so called non ratings period. As if the ratings system is actually relevant anymore or in fact remotely accurate. One would be forgiven for believing that the non ratings period actually ended from last year as the entire year could have been a non ratings period. Of course channel Nine showed how completely moronic they are. How many flops did they have? Of course you can’t necessarily blame the programs as these brainless idiots don’t keep them on long enough to build an audience. I am sure many people never had a chance to notice some of these programs before they disappeared from the screen. It does not say much about companies who can not even meet their core business requirements, which in this case would be to air programs properly and sensibly. The question everyone needs to ask themselves is, are the television networks even relevant anymore. We would be better off if the producers of television series ignored the networks and just released their programs straight to DVD or internet for download. We simply do not have to put up with the crap we get from television networks anymore and we should not. We all need to just unplug the antenna and give these contemptible morons the finger. That is all they deserve.

  41. davis November 30, 2010 at 9:42 pm -

callas, TEN’s promo for Glee next week was for s01e08 “Mash-up”. Originally aired, I believe, Thursday 5 November 2009.

I wonder if they did intend to air episodes 9 and 10 on a Monday (after which it will have gone on hiatus in the US too) but got spooked by the ratings drop (like a 300k drop) last week from the schedule shift?

  42. Secret Squïrrel November 30, 2010 at 8:40 pm -

@Goonies – time to stand up and be counted or, rather, sit down and not be counted! You owe it to every right-thinking person here to not watch any repeats of you-know-what.

  43. Rutzie November 30, 2010 at 5:17 pm -

Just on The Middle, why the hell did the Nine programming department decide to start from the pilot episode again. Absolutely stupid decision.

  44. Goonies November 30, 2010 at 4:41 pm -

I can tell you that I never watch prime time on 7 & 9 so hopefully they will be suffering when I wield my awesome power :)

I am hoping to boost numbers for things like Graham Norton / Breaking Bad – I believe I count for 100,000 people or something don’t I?

I can have it for a maximum of 4 years. Lets hope my big mouth has not ruined my chances!

  45. Tasmanian de√il November 30, 2010 at 4:36 pm -

I hope The Middle doesn’t become a huge hit like Frasier and 2 ½ Men and The Big Bang Theory did. If that happens, it’ll be on three or four nights a week and get regurgitated dozens of times, and I’ll probably lose interest in the show like I did with The BIg Bang Theory. The pilot episode has already been shown 4 times on 9/GO as it is.

Don’t get me wrong I wish it could be popular but 9 just can’t be trusted with comedies.

  46. CK November 30, 2010 at 4:34 pm -

@ Callas – i think last night was the last new ep for the yr – glee goes into repeats if im not mistaken!

  47. stephen November 30, 2010 at 4:00 pm -

Excellent figures for Glee as well as 7pm project!

Even though the ratings year has ended, that doesn’t decrease the ratings revenue for high rating shows does it David? Anyone know?

@Gonnies, very exciting indeed. So which shows and what Network will benefit most with News come next year?

  48. ryan November 30, 2010 at 3:21 pm -

Great figures for Glee, Ten should rush more new eps for the next 2 weeks before everyone goes on hols. Can’t wait to see what movies 11 has! Love my late night movie fix. Still no havn’t seen the 11 promo, come on ten just over a month to go and your not showing off your new channel

  49. callas November 30, 2010 at 3:20 pm -

there was an ad on TEN for next week’s episode of Glee…why are some people here suggesting last night’s ep was the last for the year ?

  50. Simmo_Sports nut November 30, 2010 at 2:52 pm -

Mr and Mrs packer/murdoch would be very interested in that 0.8 percent network share that one got on sunday night.

  51. Goonies November 30, 2010 at 2:49 pm -

I am going to be the proud owner of a ratings box very soon. Tis very exciting indeed.

2.5 Men and Frasier both found an audience over summer after they had died everywhere else on the Nine schedule.

  53. Tony Bee November 30, 2010 at 2:08 pm -

The Middle is one of the best comedies around. If Nine had given it a chance initially, it would have built a decent audience. Let’s hope they persevere this time around.

Excellent ratings for Glee, shame it is the last new episode for Australia this year. (The Christmas album, featuring songs performed by the cast, is now available on iTunes)

  55. Andrew B November 30, 2010 at 11:19 am -

    20 The Middle Nine 584,000 168,000 208,000 88,000 54,000 66,000

Non ratings or not – bet Nine rethink scheduling of the MIddle – which at this stage will be on 7pm weeknights from Dec 13.

Then again – Seven have the same problem:

    23 How I Met Your Mother-Summer Seven 541,000 144,000 143,000 124,000 59,000 71,000

  56. Jake November 30, 2010 at 10:47 am -

All that overplay of How I Met Your Mother really came back to bite Seven! These episodes probably played a few weeks ago on 7Mate or Thursday nights. Are they trying to make it the new 2.5 Men or something?

  57. DansDans November 30, 2010 at 10:33 am -

I know I watched ONE’s movie (The Fan) but I hope this nonsense ends – its a sports channel.. and that was not a sports movie..

  58. chk chk November 30, 2010 at 10:25 am -

Pretty Little Liars was pretty damn good last night, will watch again next week! -A

  59. mv November 30, 2010 at 10:19 am -

    Yeah! Go 7pm project!

  60. JB November 30, 2010 at 10:06 am -

Seven have made some absolutely ridiculous decisions for their summer schedule. They schedule Criminal Minds on two nights, thus pushing City Homicide to 9.30. They should have put City Homicide on 8.30 Mondays where it belongs and have a Criminal Minds double on Wednesday. That’s the timeslots they should be anyway until Seven stuffed them around. Test them at the timeslots so they can stay there next year.
And they’ve gone from having the best Tuesday lineup to the absolute worst. Seven need a massive cleanout of their programmers. I still think they have the best list of tv shows, but their programmers really have ruined them, and next year Seven probably won’t hold the #1 mantle.

  61. sam November 30, 2010 at 9:52 am -

OMG why do actors do io to themselves-? Carol Burnett ( on Glee last night) has completly stuffed herself with plastic surgery.

  62. JohnTV November 30, 2010 at 9:50 am -

Glee – second most watch show for the night and TEN are going to stop showing it until Feb next year !

Look forward to next week when SBS out rates them !!

  63. Donald November 29, 2010 at 11:35 pm -

steven guy, I did see some ads for the movie on One. I think starting at 9 rather than 8:30 would definitely be hurting them (all the other movies have already started by 9, so unless you specifically wanted to watch the movie on One…). In “America’s game” this week they mentioned a movie had been made about Rocky Bleier called “fighting back” – hope they show this!

  64. jimbob November 29, 2010 at 9:58 pm -

@ Beckala, it’s actually about a lot more than just parking officers and I find the little arguments and disputes that arise quite entertaining viewing

  65. steven guy November 29, 2010 at 9:34 pm -

One needs to promote it’s movies better or are they just testing the water before the new year ?

  66. David Knox November 29, 2010 at 8:05 pm -

Weekend Sunrise was 324,000 on Sunday.

  67. Karebear November 29, 2010 at 5:38 pm -

I like Rules of Engagement. It’s a shame it didn’t rate well.

  68. Jellyman November 29, 2010 at 1:51 pm -

Looks Like Rules of Engagement is heading to Eleven from January since it can’t find a Decent Audience on Ten.

  69. mv November 29, 2010 at 1:41 pm -

Can someone at Ch 10 get every dvd of Rules of Engagement they own and burn them?

This show it utter crap and doesn’t deserve to see the light of day.

  70. Rk November 29, 2010 at 1:38 pm -

where is the figure for weekend sunrise Sunday ?

  71. RichoTB November 29, 2010 at 1:27 pm -

    Rules of Engagement absolutely flopped!

Modern Family was getting twice the figures!

  72. Beckala November 29, 2010 at 12:57 pm -

I just cannot believe that so many people choose to watch a show about parking officers. It’s like watching paint drying!!

Bad numbers for Rules of Engagement. Yeesh. Hamish and Andy picked up a whopping 350,000 for a repeated that has also been released on dvd and has sold really well. Not sure if that’s showing good support for H&A or bad support for Rules…

  73. Andrew B November 29, 2010 at 12:33 pm -

@ Frankie – can’t have done too well as ONE’s share for the night was 0.8%.

  74. Andrew B November 29, 2010 at 12:05 pm -

The advent calender at Ten ends on January 11 – the day Eleven launches.

  75. Frankie November 29, 2010 at 12:01 pm -

Any indication of how One HD’s movie, The Fan rated last night?

  76. Jerome November 29, 2010 at 11:14 am -

its going to be a long summer for ten.
