Later this SBS will premiere Extreme Cleaners, a humourous new Australian documentary that follows the daily journey of a father and son cleaning team from Perth, Peter and Sam Teanby. It reveals what is takes to become extreme cleaners and take on the jobs the other companies will not dare to touch.

Peter Teanby left Scunthorpe, England in 1988 and arrived in Australia ready to make his fortune. One year later had his first son Sam. Twenty two years, a botched kidney operation and a divorce later, Peter lives with his son Sam and together they run an extreme cleaning business. They have to deal with the most dangerous and dirtiest jobs that the city of Perth throws at them and they never say no. From toxic chemical spills to crime scenes, it is all in a days work for Peter and Sam.

The extreme cleaning business is a tough game and Peter and Sam are facing a battle to keep their company alive. This documentary follows their day to day lives, as they attempt to get new business in and tackle some incredible cleaning tasks, with often comical consequences – from cleaning up a repossessed drug dealer’s house, to hanging off a ledge ten storeys in the air to clean windows and then as times get tough they have to tackle the most dangerous of all – cleaning above power lines that carry 32,000 volts, balancing on a ledge a few inches wide, in the middle of the night.

Peter and Sam are lovable and eccentric characters who have a unique father/ son relationship, a great sense of humour and a cleaning style which has to be seen to be believed. Tune in to watch them tackle jobs that most would run a mile from, all with a smile on their face.

Extreme Cleaners is part of SBS’s Australian Documentary Season, Secrets and Lives. The captivating season is a snapshot of Australian life that is guaranteed not to be seen anywhere else on television. The compelling, at times provocative season includes six new documentaries taking viewers into a range of extraordinary worlds in contemporary Australia and, through the incredible characters that inhabit each documentary, explores themes that are inspiring and thought-provoking.

It airs on Tuesday 21 December at 8.30pm on SBS ONE.

  1. This has to be a joke. Theses guys are complete morons. If they hoped this was advertising for their business they are sadly mistaken. I wouldn’t hire them after watching this.

  2. I can not wait to see this program, Peter and Sam are so funny but yet commited to there work. There relationship as father and son is a genuine treasure. I think it’s great how they get through some really grim clean up’s but yet still manage to have a laugh and smile at the end of the day. I shall imagine that this program will be a big hit.
