Brenton & Chez sell The Block unit

It's a happy ending after all for Brenton and Chez whose apartment has now been sold at private sale.

It’s a happy ending after all for Brenton and Chez, two contestants on The Block, whose apartment has now been sold after it was passed in at auction.

Their top-floor unit fetched $970,000 in a private sale.

They will keep the $90,000 difference, netted above the $880,000 reserve.

“The general public has been so supportive,” Chez said.

“Complete strangers have been coming up to us offering words of reassurance.

“Now we can actually afford a wedding.

“It’s been a great roller-coaster ride, which has all turned out for the best,” she said.

Neisha and John secured $205,000 above reserve plus the $100,000 prize money. Erin and Jake secured $87,500 above the reserve. Mark and Duncan secured $47,000.

A fourth series will air next year. Applications for renovators are now open.

  1. What a crock!

How unfair to the other teams who were forced to sell their apartments at auction. Maybe they also could have gotten a better price for their apartments with the luxury of being able to negotiate with buyers who refused to attend the auction or who didn’t want to be a part of the media free-for-all that Channel 9 was trying to create. At best, Channel 9 should have just matched the lowest prize money awarded to Mark and Duncan.

And the fact that Chez plans to spend $90,000 on a wedding is not surprising given her first reaction upon being handed her engagement ring was to look at the box to see where her fiancee had purchased it. Any woman who cares more about the “brand” of the ring than the man doing the proposing is a pretty disgraceful.

  2. Me and my girlfriend started watching this show about half way through the series, thanks to the Sunday repeats. Such a good, entertaining show, and great to see that they ended up selling the apartment, and that the producers let them take the money home.

Can’t wait for next years season.
