Another MasterChef guest has landed his own series, this time patissier Adriano Zumbo with SBS.

Another MasterChef guest has landed his own series, this time patissier Adriano Zumbo with SBS.

Zumbo was most memorable with his macaron tower, followed by his croquembouche and a 5 green Pear Perfections in Junior MasterChef (which was bettered by 12 year old Jack).

His new series, Zumbo will be a 6×25 series produced by Fredbird Entertainment.

Is is described as “a mix of behind the scenes kitchen reality and cast driven story lines as Zumbo and his team bring his famous creations to life in pursuit of dessert perfection.”

In each half hour episode, Adriano, 29, and his young and vibrant team will reveal the challenges of running one of Sydney’s busiest kitchens. Some desserts take hours to create, others take weeks. Adriano taste tests and judges every creation and if it’s not perfect, it goes in the bin.

Across the series viewers will be treated to an insight into Adriano’s busy life as one of Australia’s leading dessert and pastry chefs. Viewers will see Adriano creating over 60 new flavours of his signature dish – macarons – in just five days. He turns his Balmain kitchen upside down to create the largest ever range of macarons Australia has even seen. In this daunting task, Adriano and his team create flavours ranging from pigs blood and chocolate, to hamburger and 23 carat-edible-gold.

Adriano will also return to his family roots for the first time in five years. His visit home to Coonamble in country New South Wales reveals Adriano’s family and personal life for the first time on Australian TV. Coonamble is flooded but the show must go on as Adriano and two of his staff must cater for one of the biggest events of the year – his dad’s birthday.

Also in the series: in another feat of genius, Adriano launches his new summer range of desserts ‘Summer Love’ in a catwalk parade like no other. 30 stunning models strut their stuff down a catwalk showcasing Adriano’s beautiful new range of desserts as 200 lucky fans are amongst the first to sample his creations.

It will air in February on SBS.

  1. I’ll defo give this a crack. I always felt on MC he was nervous and a little uneasy in front of the camera, but he has undeniably great talent that deserves to be shown off. Reckon he’ll ease up in his own show.

  2. If anyone deserves a show, it’s this guy. His dishes are true artistic creations and his style is quite unique. That said, the macaron tower was basically a croquembouche with macaroons. There’s pressure on him to have tough dishes so he might have gone “I can’t do croquembouche twice…but what else is hard? Macaroons!”

  3. With all due respect Allie does Zumbo have any personality? There is something masochistically odd about his creations….didn’t his mamma make him nice cakes or something?

  4. Doesn’t surprise me at all, I’ve been waiting to hear that Zumbo has been signed to do a series, as he is one of the breakout members of the Masterchef chefs and his creations have entranced viewers. I’ve never been past his shop without seeing queues snaking down the road, such is his fame here in Sydney. He is a rare culinary genius, for sure I watch a series on Lifestyle Food called “Cake Box”, which follows the adventures of a young pastry chef and his team in Hoboken, New Jersey. It is strangely compelling watching how complicated baking and high-end special occasion cakes are to make. Zumbo sounds like it may be a bit like this show.
