Auditions: Go Lingo!

ABC3's new spelling game show might be just the thing to cheer up an 11-12 year old kid in Queensland.

While Queensland is getting back on its feet, here’s one that might help put a smile on the faces of some kids.

ABC3 is developing a new kid’s game show called Go Lingo!

To air on both ABC3 and National Indigenous Television (NITV), the show is looking for kids who want to have a go at spelling, grammar and language games.

Fifty episodes will be recorded in Brisbane in February.

Producers Carbon Media are looking for kids aged 11-12 years from across south east Queensland, and strongly encourages participation by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Three kids will compete in each episode, that will see contestants jumping into a pit of letters, shooting digital basketball hoops and throwing digital paint balls.

Executive producer Wayne Denning said Go Lingo! was educational, packed full of fun and exciting challenges but most importantly showcased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and languages.

“This show is open to all kids and its a great opportunity for Indigenous kids to get on TV, celebrate our culture and languages while also showing Australia how good they are at spelling and grammar,” he said.

“There are about 250 Indigenous languages across Australia, some are extinct but many are alive and well and being spoken in communities across the country.

“We are hoping that all Aussie kids learn a bit about Indigenous history in their area and pick up and use a few words in the language of the traditional owners.”
