  1. It is ridiculous that in Australia you can’t watch the Australian Open live, in the rest of the world they broadcast it live, but not in Australia, go figure!
Apparently the networks Down Under don’t get that sport isn’t something you can watch delayed… So it’s true, Oz is behind on the rest of the Western world!

  2. Great! Australian playing Rod Laver Arena at 7 pm (EST) and what does Channel 7 give WA viewers- a delayed telecast at 10pm est!
Dont you get it we want it live!!!! !! Jarmilla’s game has started and we are watching re-runs of some crap! At least put it on 7-2 so those of us interested can watch it live!!
After all we can get live scores on the web of your website or the Australian Open website- this is the 21st century!! Common 7 Perth!!!

  3. Expected to see the women’s final last year live, but instead Seven Perth showed an encore presentation of the Skyshow at 4.30pm after Hit for Haiti, then DoND, News and Finally, the Women’s finals after the match itself was finished. Hope the coverage goes to TEN/ONE with ONE covering most of the events with the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Final live on TEN/ONE with news after the COP.

  4. I live in Perth, and i can just about deal with the fact that the evening sessions are delayed (especially on weekdays), but to delay the finals themselves on weekends is just utterly ridiculous! If channel nine can show the ODI cricket live on sunday to Perth, why the hell cant Seven show the tennis finals live at 4.30pm on a sat and sun afternoon.

They need to understand that people want to watch Live Sport!

  5. @billy ray – why would you waste bandwidth having an SD and HD simulcast of the primary channel?

Current legislation doesn’t allow the main channel to screen only in HD – but that’s likely to change in a couple of years. When that happens, the networks will be free to make their primary channel HD-only.

Those that are digital-capable only in SD are rare now, will be much more rare in a few years.
