ABC’s remake of Charlie’s Angels will proceed to Pilot stage.
The reboot of the classic 70s female crime-busting show will be set in Miami. These Angels are expected to be geared toward a new generation while paying homage to the past.
For several months the show has been in the hands of Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough took over from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles‘ Josh Friedman. Drew Barrymore is one of 3 producers.
Mark Piznarski (Gossip Girl) is already rumoured be Directing.
Wonder if Ian Thorpe is available to revive his Undercover Angels role and play Charlie?

On the subject of remakes, David E. Kelley is optimistic his new Wonder Woman series will still see the light of day, despite being knocked back by some US networks.
Finally Dynasty creator Richard Shapiro has now announced a big screen prequel for his soap showing how Blake Carrington discovers he is heir to an oil fortune.
The role was made famous by John Forsythe -also the voice of Charlie in Charlie’s Angels.

Most of these ‘updates’ and remakes have fallen flat. Bionic Woman was one (it was panned by Lee Majors too!). They just try to have the biggest explosions, action scenes etc etc now. If you recall the originals of these show’s they are brilliant, but mainly for the time they were (e.g the 70’s). Doesn’t anyone have original ideas anymore?

@stevieg Yeh the orginal was pure 70’s LA, 2010 Miami will be so wrong. I’ll give some remakes a go like Hawaii 5-0 but I’ll give this one a miss.

They will have to be soooooooooooo careful with casting this. It will all come down to finding 3 girls who are immediately likeable and incredibly good looking.
If any of these girls don’t measure up to the Diaz, Liu, Barrymore angels then the show will just drown in comparisons.
Good to see some original shows, as opposed to all the bloody remakes over the past couple of years!
Another reboot – obviously the ideas pool is very shallow where US TV is concerned. I guess it’s safer to use an idea that you know works and not take the risk on something new and original.

Ian Thorpe will be playing one of the angels?? that I would like to see!
Not happy about it being set in Miami. The original show had nothing to do with Miami.
If they’re really going to do this get some good young actresses like Kristen Bell or Katie Cassidy.
This will be just as bad as The Bionic Woman remake, they just can’t make shows like that anymore. You can’t beat the original.
