Gone: 90210. Bumped: So You Think You Can Dance

And that Get Smart marathon is out of Saturdays as the channel still tries to get it right.

ELEVEN is making more changes to its Friday and Saturday line-ups.

From next week February 4th 90210 is no more, and So You Think You Can Dance will take its place at 7:30pm.

Repeats of Sex and the City, from the very first episodes will air at 9:20 / 9:55 pm.

TEN has had a bad run with 90210, dumped off its primary channel, briefly re-attempted again in a summer slot, and now out of schedule on its new multichannel.

Meanwhile Get Smart is out of primetime Saturdays from February 5. It will be replaced by Frasier / Everybody Loves Raymond / Frasier / Everybody Loves Raymond … in that order, 7:30 – 9:30pm.

ELEVEN recently dumped Hogan’s Heroes from the same timeslot.

TV Tonight readers had previously bemoaned both Hogan’s Heroes and Get Smart as a primetime Saturday offering, suggesting ELEVEN offer more contemporary fare for such a premium slot.

Adjustments for a new channel are not especially surprising, as networks gain some understanding of a new audience.

  1. I can’t believe they are taking off 90210. They should have scheduled it at 2 different times and remove the lower rated airing. You’d think Eleven would just want to screen it and get it overwith and keep a promise and look forward to the Tori Spelling guest episodes and even rerun the original Beverly Hills 90210. its all business to them , not entertainment.

  2. I wasn’t a fan of 90210, but feel a bit sad for those who are. This was one of the shows they used to promote 11! Surely it can’t be totally ripped from the schedule?

I really thought shows are more easily able to live out their lives without fear of being pulled when not being aired on the main channel.

  3. I have yet to see ELEVEN, my current proximity has something to do with this, but weren’t Hogans Heroes and Get Smart being constantly run on GO! already?

  4. Putting these eps on redefines the term “prime” time. Prime = First in importance, value or excellence. So then, why oh why do we continue to put repeats on prime time?

If you haven’t seen that episode of Raymond where he annoys his wife, while trying to placate his mother … you haven’t seen any episodes. Ditto Frasier being frustrated at living with father, whilst brother woo’s maid.

Even though not as good as the original , at least 90210 had new eps! … and what’s the deal with the lack of Eleven’s Australian content? Isnt there rules about this, or is Neighbours and those wack hosts between programming meant to equate to all we need to see from Australia?

I would rather watch re-runs of Henderson Kids than Raymond … but neither in prime time!

    OK rant over.

  5. Oh for crying out loud! I just started watching 90210 on Eleven! First desperate housewives was moved to a crazy timeslot, now this. TV is going to be crazy this year

  6. It is beyond me why they initially had 90210 on a friday night! It should be on at the 830 slot monday-thurs. otherwise give it a saturday afternoon or sunday afternoon position.
Given that 90210 was promoted as being a key part of the eleven line-up it is disappointing that they never really gave it a chance.
I hope it is back within a week at a more appropriate time slot.

  7. I don’t understand why they put 90210 in a Friday Night timeslot anyway. As TT said, its target audience doesn’t really tune into TV on a Friday night.

Well the show was axed in the US anyway so I’m surprised they even started it here on 11.

  8. I have the whole series of Raymond on dvd and i hate Frasier. How about putting first run eps of Monk & Psych?? I say that every week, well how about they actually do it. And yes i know Monk aired in Sydney and Brisbane, but the rest of us are 4 seasons behind

What’s the point of these new channels if all they’re going to offer is repeats of old shows in primetime. Raymond, Frasier, Get Smart, Hogans Heroes, Sex and the City….. Even worse when they do actually have new content they could play

  9. Not only did they dump a good teen show they replaced it with one of the worst shows ever Sex in the City but then again they put in on a bad night when most teens aren’t watching so best thing to do is put it on 7.30 Sunday-Thursday where most teens are likely to be home or burn it off on an afternoon or sell the rights to foxtel or even put it on a late night so we can atleast record it.
    ):

  10. what’s with this apparent trend in alternating two titles over a 2 hour block? GO does it as well. I don’t understand that Ten/11 has access to apparently this vast catalogue of 70,000 hours from CBS but it’s only the same dozen or so titles that are getting utilised. This is probably good for Frasier fans but really isn’t there enough Raymond during the other six days of the week already?

  11. Aussie 90210 fans (I’m not one) must be very upset. I wonder what ELEVEN’s plans are for the show now. I’m guessing it might be burnt off in a late weekend afternoon slot.

Or maybe they can sell the rights to Foxtel (do they even want them)?
