Meet the Survivor: Redemption cast

Are Boston Rob and Evil Russell headed back to Survivor?

Are Boston Rob and Evil Russell headed back to Survivor?

That’s been an ongoing rumour for some time now, and now CBS has ramped up the speculation by revealing 16 of 18 cast members.

Boston Rob has already appeared on 3 Survivor seasons (plus one Amazing Race) while Evil Russell has appeared on two.

This season, filmed at Nicaragua, will see eliminated contestants sent to Redemption Island where they will battle for a chance to return to the main game.

Nine of the 16 are women, meaning if the next two contestants are both male, there will be nine of each gender. They are:

Andrea Boehlke, student, Random Lake, WI
Mike Chiesl, former Marine, Del Mar, CA
Matt Elrod, pre-med student, Nashville, TN
Francesca Hogi, attorney, Washington DC
Kristina Kell, law student, Malibu, CA
Krista Klumpp, pharmaceutical rep, Columbia, SC
Ralph Kiser, farmer, Lebanon, VA
Grant Mattos, yoga instructor, West Hollywood, CA
David Murphy, defense attorney, West Hollywood, CA
Phillip Sheppard, technology executive, Santa Monica, CA
Natalie Tenerelli, professional dancer, Acton, CA
Ashley Underwood, nurse, Benton, ME
Stephanie Valencia, waitress, Long Beach, CA
Sarita White, visual effects producer, Santa Monica, CA
Julie Wolfe, firefighter, Oceanside, CA
Steve Wright, former NFL player, Huntington Beach, CA

Speaking of rumours, TV Tonight is hearing wild whispers of Survivor: Antarctica -including with an Australian participant. Crazy? We’ll know in a few months…..

  1. Antartica has always been on the wish list for Survivor but according to a source I cannot quite remember, the televisual appeal is less because all those hot, good looking bodies that so many viewers enjoy would be covered up to keep warm. Personally, I’d love to see it!
(And I Hope Rob and Russ won’t be back).

  2. You must remember that Russell was on two seasons back to back. I.e. he didn’t know the outcome of Samoa while he was filming Villians. As far as he knew, the way he played Samoa got him to the final three – and that’s why he played the same way on Villians.

He might be different since he now knows that won’t get him a win.

  3. @Armchair Analyst

Yep, people have said this since, what, season 5?!?

The show is not going anywhere anytime soon. Deal with it. It’s like sport, it will be on, every year- no use complaining.

  4. This show may have had its day in the sun. I think it is time to put this baby to bed. Over ten years is enough because the show is starting to become stale and repetative.

  5. I love that Russell is back, enjoyed his run through Samoa and Heroes vs Villains. I know it’s not the case, but i see it as the producers giving Boston Rob a chance at “redemption” after he was dispatched in Heroes vs Villains…. moreso than the actual “redemption island” twist to the game.

  6. Producers have said before that only US citizens can participate. Even Canadians can’t so I doubt an Aussie could join the fray, unless they had dual citizenship. As for Antarctica, yeah right! Impossible – what would a reward be? Where would they get food? How could they do challenges if a blizzard blew in? Ain’t going to happen.

  7. It’ll be another Survivor: Guatemala arrangement no doubt. Perhaps Burnett wants to begin a trend, where every 11th season they bring back 2 returning castaways as tribe “leaders”.

  8. I always like the concept of new people for every season of survivor. Perhaps with an All-Stars every 5 or so seasons. Just having the same people back in the show all the time makes it appear that they couldn’t find anyone better when casting.

  9. Russell’s now been in three of the last four seasons. Major overkill. And this will be Boston Rob’s fourth failure.

I expect Russell to be taken to the end, as I highly doubt he will change his game and based on that he will be no chance to win a jury vote. Although I would love to see him get voted out.

Can’t imagine Antarctica being feasible for a season of Survivor.

  10. Boston Bob can stay in Boston for all our sakes… Meanwhile, from this next crop no doubt the nurse will be the one who goes around cleaning up after everyone else.

  11. I really hope Rob and Russell aren’t in again. I love Boston Rob, but he’s done it enough. And Russell is a loser who’s thinks he is the greatest ever yet failed to win both times. Enough of them already.

For years i’ve been thinking how cool will it be for them to go to Antartica, plus it’s like the one place they’ve never been and a change from all the islands lately. But thought it would be impossible. Surely they couldn’t.

  12. Maybe it’s some sort of Team Captain arrangement with the new island they’ve got going? I would love to have Russell back, he’s always entertaining. Seen enough of Rob though. Is it a bit strange that 10 of them are from California?

  13. Awesome, can’t wait foir this season!! CBS will release the identities of the 2 mystery past players who have been cast in S22 Redemption Island at the end of this week!!

Correction – Rob has appeared on 2 Amazing race seasons – Season 7 & All Stars!

Let’s hope Ch9 air it inline with the US.
