Torchwood: Miracle Day -nobody dies

Here is some of the synopsis of the 10 part series, Torchwood: Miracle Day. Some Spoilers.

Spoilers: The BBC has confirmed the new season of Torchwood will be titled “Miracle Day”.

The 10 part series will premiere in the UK in May, with John Barrowman and Eve Myles, as well as new cast additions Bill Pullman, Mekhi Phifer, Alexa Havins and Arlene Tur.

A BBC statement said of the plot: “One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next. People keep ageing – they get hurt and sick – but they never die.

“The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four months’ time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it.”

The series, which stretches “from Washington to Wales and the slums of Shanghai”, will follow CIA operative Rex Matheson (Mekhi Phifer) as he attempts to get to the bottom of the mystery by joining up with the remaining members of the Torchwood team, Captain Jack Harkness (Barrowman) and Gwen Cooper (Myles).

New characters include Oswald Danes (Bill Pullman), a convicted child murderer who manages to survive his own execution, Esther Drummond (Alexa Havins), a CIA office worker who is thrown into the heat of the battle, and Dr Vera Juarez (Arlene Tur), a Washington surgeon who advises the government over the best course of action during the crisis.

No Australian airdate has yet been announced, but the last season was fast-tracked by UK TV.

  1. “Gwen can’t die, or they lose a third of their audience ;)”

Actually, I think they’d gain a lot of their audience back. XP

  2. That’s very selfish of you – Michael – not all of us have UKTV and have no intention of getting it! It should be on free to air (ABC) where everyone can have access to it. You might also note that we got the Doctor Who Christmas Special on Boxing Day this time round.

  3. @ Neon Kitten – The writers of Miracle Day were announced last year and they are Russell T Davies of course, John Shiban, Jane Espenson, Doris Egan and John Fay.

  4. @Mandy Yep he is.

@Michael Who cares if it’s SD or not, as long as we get it, that’s all that matters, I’m pretty sure most fans would rather it fast-tracked then having to download it. It’s easy enough to buy the DVDs/Blu-rays later as well.

  5. How can getting it on the ABC be better than getting it on UK TV? UK TV will show it in HD same day and the ABC in grainy SD months later. UK TV HD within 24 hours of it showing in the UK as the last series did …… it is the only way to go.

  6. If RTD is true to form, then no one will die until the last few episodes, then he’ll kill the only character(s) we like.
I want Ianto, Tosh and Owen back!! The Reaper can have Gwen and her dull hubby.
