Cameras roll on more Spirited

Dentist Suzy Darling and her rock star ghost Henry Mallet are back together for 10 more episodes.

Filming on the second season of offbeat drama Spirited begins today in Sydney.

Actor / Producer Claudia Karvan returns to the series alongside Matt King and Rodger Corser, headlining 10 new episodes.

Other returning cast include Belinda Bromilow, Angus Sampson, Louis Fowler, Charlie Hancock and Jane Harders.

Joining them this season are Simon Lyndon as a powerful and charismatic ghost known as ‘The King’ and Heather Mitchell as Helen Payne, the mother Suzy and Jonquil have not seen since childhood.

Dentist Suzy Darling (Karvan) and her rock star ghost Henry Mallet (King) are back together but the course of their love affair can never be straightforward. Suzy’s ex-husband Steve (Corser) is unwilling to believe she can be happy without him and her apartment building is now home to an entourage of ghosts, some here to help and some here to destroy. Suzy and Henry must fight to find a way to stay together but what price will they ultimately pay for their love.

“We have a few frenzied months ahead of us and I feel galvanised and excited,” Karvan said. “I think our story lines are playful and surprising and I can’t wait to help bring them to life.”

Co-producer and writer Jacquelin Perske added, “It’s very exciting to be developing the Spirited world further, and deeper and wilder, and to be working with such a superb ensemble of actors.”

The writing team also includes Tony McNamara, Lally Katz, Alice Bell, Jessica Redenbach, Tommy Murphy, Ian Meadows and Mandy McCarthy. Spirited will be directed by Stuart McDonald, Michael J. Rowland, Jonathan Teplitzky, Rowan Woods and Jonathan Brough.

John Edwards is the executive producer for Southern Star Entertainment and Kim Vecera is executive producer for Foxtel.

The first series will replay this month on W channel from Sunday, February 13, at midday AEDT (episodes 1 – 4) and Sunday, February 20, at midday (episodes 5- 8).

The second season will air later this year.
