MasterChef trip to Malaysia?

In 2009 it was Hong Kong. Last year it was London and Paris. And 2011?

Could MasterChef Australia be headed to Malaysia this year?

British chef Rick Stein has let slip that he would board a plane from the UK within weeks to film an appearance in the next series.

Stein is best known on television for his Odyssey series on SBS.

  1. Malaysia is a good destination. I am so thrilled and excited! In fact, there were significant Malaysian contestants in Masterchef. First season, we had Poh, runner up and a Malaysian. Second season, we had Adam winner of the Masterchef and also Malaysian. Third season, Billy is Malaysian. Can’t wait.

  2. Whats wrong with Malaysia? Im from there and its pretty cool they’re going there…Malaysia has one of the best cuisine’s Ive ever tasted and Im not saying this just because Im from there…I think its cool they’re going to an Asian country…xoxo

  3. Cost cutting??? Master chef generates a lot of income for channel 10.
The reason why they are going to Asia is because many of the top contenders come from Asia…hello??

  4. What about Greece? Gerogie Porgie is from there and his Yia Yia is all he mentions in MasterClass. Oh well maybe, Poh will take them on a tour and set them up with a “bringing of all pain” challenge!
I’ll wait and look see 🙂

  5. @ Ryano: yeah apparently there were whispers of filming maybe in the southwest, maybe margaret river. I’m also guessing if this was the case then it would prob be a small challange through the comp and not the big end one.

  6. Slightly OT, our local paper (affectionately known as The Worst Australian) had a huge article yesterday about the Masterchef boys shooting three days worth of footage in the Margaret River region. So who cares if Oprah doesn’t make it to the West when you’ve got the three chubbies promoting our wares!
