Seven wins while Nine, TEN struggle.

With Nine and TEN both struggling behind the scenes over separate problems, Seven notches up its third knockout blow in the weekly ratings.

Seven has notched up another knockout blow in the weekly survey ratings -its third win for the year.

Seven grabbed the first seven shows in the weekly top ten, with just one apiece to TEN and Nine. Packed to the Rafters and My Kitchen Rules continue to underpin the network’s surge.

It is the second week in a row that Seven wins the hat trick: topping network, primary and digital channel wins, demos, all nights and all cities.

Behind the scenes Nine is struggling to keep its primetime schedule intact while TEN is reeling from managerial challenges. Has there ever been a more tumultuous start to the ratings year?

  1. @Cameron. I’m not sure I understand the point you were making in your post??? Are you saying that posters are loathe to criticise Seven, even if they were doing poorly? If so, I think you’re wrong. Posters here are not afraid to criticise any network when it is perceived that they are performing badly or treating viewers with contempt. If Channel Nine were winning in the ratings at the moment, posters comments would reflect that. As Nine’s programming is going down like a lead balloon with audiences at the moment, that is why there is a lot of criticism of them.

  2. the fact that nine have the oscars on at 9.40 tonight and a episoe of This is your life before underscorses their problem- in progaming- no idea – who on earth gives a rats about deborah furness???

  3. Channel Nine’s news is pulling them back. That newsroom needs a great big shake out. Enough of the fluff pieces and the ditzy blondes. Let’s bring back some cudos to the place. Proper news directors – Fenny/Cooky et al. Not some goose from the UK who takes credit for other people’s work.

  4. @ MuchoTB

The reason why more people might not be watching Hawaii Five-0 is because it’s on Sunday. Or at least that’s my reason. I’m fine with that. But I just won’t watch it 99% of the time (as I like other shows or programming more mainly on the ABC plus the end of Castle).

Thanks for telling us about the House promos. I used to watch it for many years and won’t go back. Nor did I see any promos due to the fact I don’t watch Ten much anymore. And that’s either because any show I’m interested in is moved to a time I can’t watch or was moved to Eleven. I’ll admit I prefer the latter on the whole except Smallville on Sunday. However I did watch last night/this morning (from 10.30pm-12.30am ). Because I managed to catch up to the episodes I missed on DVD. But I do hope they move it to a weekday, even Friday (or Thursday 8.30-10.30pm ) , for Season 9. Time will tell if they try it or something like it.

  5. Hawaii 5-0 is ace, more people should really be watching.

House has been getting promoted like hell, its been in every ad break on Ten for the last four-five days. Will be interesting to see if it pulls an audience on Tuesday morning. I’m going to guess around 800k, perhaps 900k. Don’t see it getting back to its glory day ratings of seasons 2-3

  6. Cameron, If 10 was booming and 7 was struggling people would say “Ten is booming and Seven is struggling” so what is your point?

Chris, Just because you don’t like a show doesn’t make it bad. The fact is your opinion is just that, one opinion. Obviously 1M [people on average disagree.

Seven appears to understand the Australian public better than 9 or 10 at them moment. 10 hasn’t been the No. 1 network in 25 years and probably never will be. That is fine. It targets a demographic. The advent of secondary channels will hurt them however. 9 used to understand the public or should I say Kerry Packer understood the public. When Kerry died and Leckie moved to 7 they seemed to lose their connection with the public.
