Airdate: Tim Minchin vs the Sydney Symphony

ABC2 will air a live performance of Tim Minchin vs the Sydney Symphony on the final night of his national tour from the Sydney Opera House.

Now here’s a treat -ABC2 will air a live performance of Tim Minchin vs the Sydney Symphony on the final night of his national tour from the Sydney Opera House.

In the six years since turning to comedy in 2005, Minchin has become a savagely acclaimed live perormer, picking up awards at the Edinburgh Fringe, US Comedy Arts Festival and the Helpmann Awards.

He is currently touring his political satire, music and comedy around Australia, performing with six different state orchestras.

This show has sold out in seven states with dates booked as far afield as New York, Glasgow and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Now television audiences will get a front row seat via ABC2 Live.

Tim Minchin said: “It is an incredible honour to be playing with the Sydney Symphony and such a huge thrill to perform in the Opera House. That people will be able to watch the show live from their lounge rooms fills me with dread and excitement, and will fill the switchboards of right-wing radio djs with calls from the outraged. I can’t wait.” –

Amanda Duthie, Head of Arts and Entertainment, said, “Tim Minchin is rapidly becoming a giant in the world of performance comedy. It is super exciting to have him live on ABC2 on the last night of his Australian tour – a chance for all Australians to see him from the very best seat in the house.”

It airs live Sunday 27th March at 8.30pm on ABC2.

  1. Thanks ABC2, you better be replaying this performance (without the sound problems)…if not for your viewers…but for Tim and all the members of the SSO.

  2. I saw this show in Kings Park a couple of weekends ago and it is absolutely effing brilliant! (that word is used liberally throughout the show). If you like your comedy jet black it’s a must see.

  3. When I first saw Tim on Good News Week, I wasn’t that sure of him. I really didn’t know what he did. Now, I have become a fan! The ABC has run a few of his shows and I have enjoyed them all. Would love to see him live one day, but for now, happy this will be on the ABC.

  4. Hooray !

Now, if I can only figure out how to record 5 channels at the same time…

Bones, Hawaii 5-0, Mentalist / Harry’s Law, Midsomer Murders and now Tim’s latest concert !!!
