Rafters exit wins the week, and leaves window of opportunity

The "final episode" of Packed to the Rafters helped Seven dominate the ratings -but now there is a window of opportunity for rivals.

The “final episode” of Packed to the Rafters pulled 1.7m viewers and was the #1 show of the week. It again helped Seven dominate the ratings -but now there is a window of opportunity for its rival networks.

This week Seven premieres Winners and Losers in the 8:30 Tuesday timeslot, and while it is likely to debut well, the real test will come a week later to see how much of the audience returns. Unless it pulls similar numbers to Rafters Seven’s shares may not be so high.

Seven again had a dominant week with 8 of the week’s Top 10 shows and wins in channels, demos and cities.  Nine topped Seven on 3 nights, its best tally in the ratings so far this year -but it still has much ground to make up in shares.

  1. I need Packed to the rafters!!!! i know me and all my friends love packed to the rafters allooot more than winners and losers you can run both shows but Please don’t take out time slot or day i loved it and i need it 😀

  2. Signs are bad when they have continued to push this program back.It was going to be shown months ago.I feel channel 7 are worried about this one

  3. david talking about australia got talnet
when will that be back on tv??
i just got back from the perth show and it was quite good and the warm up guy was great So funny

  4. The double episodes of W+L for week 2 is a bad idea….its too early to be slamming out double episodes of something like that. The audience needs little bites to try before they get handed a huge slice of something they may not like yet!

  5. W&L will do well even if it’s not the best show. 7 have dominated 8:30 Tuesday since 1994. Tuesday 1994-1997 – Blue Heelers.
1998-2004 – All Saints. 2004-2008 – Dancing With The Stars. 2008-Present -Packed To The Rafters. I think W&L will be no different and 7 now basically have 40 works worth of drama to fill the 8:30 timeslot like they did in the 90’s and most of 00’s.

    1. Blue Heelers used to play on other nights, ie. Wednesday, but even I can’t remember which years. AGT also spilled over into the 8:30 Tuesday slot. I agree it has been dominant for Seven with NCIS and The Bill two other consistent performers there.

  6. Criminal minds is doing very well when you look at it through the weekly rankings.

I think W&L can probably premiere very well maybe 1.65mil but week 2 there is a double episode which is a poisoned chalice that has killed blue bloods, Hawaii five-o, the mentalist and will probably be worse for a serial drama.

Million dollar drop will be another expensive flop for 9. Show might be ok but it has had the most unnapealing promotion since the apprentice Australia, and Eddie will be a major turnoff. The shows name is just asking for a mean headline.

  7. I predict W&L will do well for the pilot but will go down to about 1 million in the following weeks, opening the way for Top Gear and NCIS to claw back some ratings.

BTW wasn’t W&L meant to have a double ep pilot so no Parenthood, just asking as the online guides have just one ep listed at 8:30-9:30.
