Steve Carell has filmed his last episode as a series regular on the US series of The Office.
Carell announced in June that he would be leaving the series after seven seasons playing boss Michael Scott. So far there has been no word on his replacement.
Will Ferrell will make a four episode guest appearance, but he won’t be the permanent replacement.
Carell has several new projects lined up including a starring role in the magician comedy Burt Wonderstone and a producing-starring commitment to the drama Dogs of Babel.
Though no longer the star of The Office, he could still return in a guest capacity in the future.
Co-star Rainn Wilson tweeted on Friday, “Steve Carell’s last day on The Office. And the angels of comedy wept.”
And probably NBC.

Will ferrel. Yes. The only guy who can make Steve’s exit bearable:)
Great story, compelling, and rich 🙂
As much as I loved Ricky Gervais’ appearance recently, did anyone else see that as a bit of an anachronism?
Will Ferrell will be funny though.
Shame really wont be the same.
“Now it’s going to be hard for them… ”
“That’s what she said”
I don’t know how it’s going to survive without him.
All good things must come to an end, and The Office is a good thing. It is a pity Ten left whole seasons out and then aired it at 10.30 at night.
In a world of TV dross I’ve always found ‘The (US) Office” to be a well-written and often sweetly funny show well worth the effort of tracking down despite it’s shabby treatment by Ch 10.
Steve CarrelI is quite a rare talent IMO. He will be missed on “The Office”, which I can’t see lasting long without him.
And I wept to
