Mark Burnett’s new NBC talent series The Voice, which includes Christina Aguilera as a judge, has released a promo.
They are at pains to point out the show’s “blind auditions,” where the judges don’t see the acts they are auditioning.
Which means after the first few weeks its biggest point of difference from American Idol is actually gone.

Francis, good idea
Can’t wait for them to invite Stevie Wonder to guest judge
They can still tell if it’s a 16-year-old Justin Bieber-wannabe by their voice which means they will still accept these types of ‘artists’ for the tween demographics.
they should make the show entire blind audition. the judges should have no idea of what the contestants are and what they look like until the grand finale.
the judges choose the contestants right up until the grand finale night and then the public vote the final 2. that way they are voting purely for the voice and not what they look like or stage presence and then on grand finale night they would reveal to the judges what they look like and see if the image they had matched up in the heads.
then the public vote for the grand finale. that way we can be sure we’ve got the best singers in the comp in the grand finale and not the most popular.
that would be a reality show i’d watch
Christina looks more and more like a bad drag queen every day.
Any idea if one of the FTA networks will air this one David?
In the US this will take over the Parenthood time slot when it ends April 19, so up against the last few S2 episodes of The Good Wife, it doesn’t stand a chance!
3 singing competitions in one year? and 4 if you include America’s got talent? surely this is overkill
… also apparently the round after auditions is like a boxing match, where they sing a duet. i’m not feeling it.
Mark Burnett’s Design Star is rubbish so I suspect this will be too. Survivor is incredible but I think he has lost his way.
I don’t agree with this shows philosophy. Having a voice is only a small part of being a successful in the music biz, you need to be a whole package. No I don’t believe you need to be good looking but you do need a good stage presence, personality, attitude and a lot of confidence. The blind auditions seem like a bit of a gimmick to me.
Any credibility Adam Levine had as an artist is now gone. I’m guessing he’s getting paid a lot.
This wont work…it’s to similar to Idol, and its on NBC
There needs to be an Australia version of this show. Now>
