Ab Fab to make TV comeback

Joanna Lumley has confirmed she is due to film 3 new episodes of Absolutely Fabulous in August.

Lookout sweetie, Absolutely Fabulous is set to make a comeback to television.

In an interview with Hello! magazine Joanna Lumley (Patsy) said, “In late August I start filming on three episodes of Absolutely Fabulous, which we are all ecstatic about. Miss Saunders has been so busy writing Uptown Downstairs Abbey for Comic Relief and also Spice Girls: The Musical, I don’t think she’s started [the script].'”

The sitcom which was created by Jennifer Saunders and also stars June Whitfield and Julia Sawalha was last seen in 2005 in a Comic Relief special.

A BBC spokesman said: ‘We’re putting the finishing touches to the deal to bring it back and as soon as we’re in a position to confirm it we will.’

In a previous interview Lumley has said, “I think we just have to do it. The great thing is that because we fast forwarded [the story] to where they’re very old and nearly dead and practically plugged into vodka machines, it doesn’t matter how beyond [the previous series] we do it.”

  1. Yay! I don’t watch many things again but I’ve been enjoying the repeats that have been on ABC2. Don’t normally go for in-your-face comedy like this but the writing and delivery are exceptional.

When will the US try to do a remake?
