ICC World Cup Cricket: final

Tomorrow night's Final between Sri Lanka v India will bring the World Cup Cricket to a close.

Nine’s broadcasts of the ICC World Cup Cricket 2011 have kept cricket fans on their toes lately.

On Wednesday it didn’t even bother to play the India v Pakistan match instead opting for late night home shopping.

Tomorrow night the contest ends, with a Final between Sri Lanka v India.

It will begin on Saturday at 11:50pm.

  1. OMFG! like seriously as if u wouldn’t broadcast the finals >_< like WTF! who the fudge wants to watch "alvin and the chipmunks" and "the incredible hulk"??!!! Arghh!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean seeing as what a massive population of cricket fans we have in this country, Channel 9 are ding-dons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Really, really pathetic, Nine. SBS didn’t stop showing the FIFA World Cup after Australia had exited. When will Nine realise that the people who watch cricket don’t just watch it just for Australia? Especially since they are no longer the best team in the world! And to think, Nine are showing the ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ instead of the final… The least they can do is show it on GEM or GO! if they think it’s not important enough to show it on their main channel. Why pay for the rights when you’re only showing a few hours of the whole thing?

  3. As I’ve said before – Channel 9 should lose any rights it has to cricket … its coverage is crap at the best of times, but with the World Cup – well, what coverage?

Was shocked / disgusted when watching it on Foxtel and the commentators mentioned all the countries & broadcasters televising the series – “in Australia, Foxtel and Channel 9” … umm, dont think a few hours of air time qualifies for airing the series :/

  4. The same old same old from a borring underperforming Network. This does happen Networks who have had the rights to show a sporting event for that long ussually become complaisent and just dont pay any respect to their product at all. We can certainly say that the uptights running The 9 Network have no interest in sport. Its times like these that i wish Kerry Packer was still alive, he knew how to treat the sport he aquired.

  5. ch9 you are a disgrace. Imagine what they could do next year to the London 2012 Olympic games and I’m already dreading RWC coverage later this year. ONE HD should show ICC related events like CWC, 20/20 world cup on top of their 20/20 Champions League and IPL (which I’m looking forward to this month).
SBS did a great job at the Ashes 2 years ago and I’d expect the 2013 ashes to be just highlights on Nine.

  6. Hopeless. Channel 9 treats its viewers appalingly.
Come the summer and C9 wants cricket fans to stay loyal and watch their coverage and not switch to satelite but this is how they treat genuine cricket fans the rest of the time. Not everyone is only interested in watching Australia games. There are many people who want to watch, enjoy and celebrate the best teams in the word, regardless of the fact its not Australia.
If C9 dont want to bradcast the games put it on one of the digital channels or SBS.

  7. Channel 9 is absolutely pathetic!! Only showing Australian games and only showing half the game. One HD should have broadcast the WC. And now Ch 9 going to host the Rugby WC this September i know its going to be really fucked up broadcast >:(

  8. Yep , i’m booked into a Swank Hotel to watch it , Get Stuffed Channel 9 , you couldnt even show the 2nd Semi Final , this will be Tendulkars last World Cup and Muris as well.

  9. Ch9 has treated the world cup like aust played in it. Unprofessional, ill prepared and simply rubbish. They are showing the incredible hulk instead of the cricket. I bet it’s not to get eddie and the afl angry at showing live sport against delayed afl coverage!
