Nine exec to depart

GTV9's Director of Production and Programming Nick Evans will exit in June.

GTV9’s Director of Production and Programming, Nick Evans, has announced he will resign his position in order to pursue new opportunities.

Having assisting with the transition from Bendigo Street to 717 Bourke Street, Evans will finish on Friday, June 10th.

“It has been a privilege to have been part of the Nine family and that makes leaving a difficult decision,” he said.

“However, after nine years, my time has come to look for some new challenges.”

Jeffrey Browne, Nine’s Managing Director said, “I have had the great privilege of working closely with Nick, more particularly during my time at GTV.

“He is a genuine and widely acknowledged expert in the Production and Programming areas, as well as being an accomplished television executive. I wish Nick every success in an undoubtedly bright future.”

  1. Programming is overseen by Sydney. Len Downs wound back his workload quite some time ago. Michael Healy is now Director of Television. Andrew Backwell is now head of Progamming and Prdn in Sydney. That is all.

  2. Len Downs is the Program Manager at Nine Melbourne, and has been for years. I can’t imagine Nick Evans was above Len. Could you pls clarify this David?

Nick is a great guy and understand he could be Director of Production at Nine. He used to push staging around at Seven’s Dorcas Street studios in the 90’s. Back then Len Downs was kicking big goals Programming Nine at Bendigo Street.

  3. How much of a say did he have in the day-to-day (or should that be hour-to-hour) schedule for Nine or Go!? What I mean is will we see an improvement in the current farcical state of affairs?

  4. I wonder where he will end up overseas or at foxtel. considering the circulation of the executives and programers from one media organisation to another ie Leckie from 9 to 7, this is still possible for Nick. However considering the poor performance of the network i doubt he will be persued by anyone.
