  1. I think Chrissie is great, but didn’t TV Week make the rules that New Talent nominees couldn’t be nominated also for Gold? But then again the voting form was so flawed I suppose anything is possible.

  2. I’m really happy with those three new nominees. Karl is just awesome and totally deserves it, fell in love with Asher in Underbelly and she just continues to be a great actress and Chrissie is the best host on The Circle.

I really don’t want Rebecca Gibney to win this year. Nothing against her, I just want someone who hasn’t one it before to win. As much as I would be happy with any of those three new nominees winning, I think that it’s about time that Adam Hills won.

  3. Within five minutes, people already pour scorn on who the public – us – vote for. Anybody can be the most popular personality – it matters not whether they are from breakfast tv, a soap. a comedy, a drama, an info tainment – as this years group are. If they are popular, and people feel compelled to vote – there it is. There are good arguments for all of them., and many others who were not on the list. Karl’s profile was boosted by the Qld tragedies, Chrissie was on air up to 12 hours a week last year, Gibney is watched by nearly 2 million viewers and is the star of her show; Marais likewise, and a strong performer, Hills has been on air for 6 years, Keddie appeared in two major productions that scored 1 million plus each. Shaun, Carrie, and a list of other high profile figures could have been too.

  4. @Travis I personally feel that Asher Keddie is the most deserving out of those six. She’s amazing on Offspring and has been great in every Aussie Drama she’s been on since Love My Way. This nomination can be seen as for last year’s work on Offspring (and Hawke) or an appreciation for what she’s contributed to the Australian TV Industry over the years.

  5. I wonder how TV Week will explain bending the rules for Chrissie Swan? This is actually a very weak field of nominees this year. I’ve always been a great supporter of The Logies, but two of the nominees are real head scratchers (Karl and Asher – she’s a great actress, but do people really know who she is….?) and one is there because they bent the rules.

  6. The only person not on the list from News Limited, and therefore I am expecting them to be part of the next two nominee’s, is Carrie Bickmore. I like the list, and would like it more with Carrie Bickmore, because although people assume the Gold Logie should award those with a lot of experience and someone who’s been in the industry for some time (especially off the back of Ray’s win last year), I think the person who deserves it is someone who has stirred a lot of positive buzzes; has had a good rapport and has shown a down-to-earth approach to their work over only the last year.

In that case, everyone on that list would deserve to be there; and a lot more; but not all can win.

  7. Rebecca Gibney, Packed to the Rafters – Fine, will probably win it.
Adam Hills, Spicks and Specks – Fine
Asher Keddie, Offspring, Hawke – WTF? No way she deserves a nomination
Jessica Marais, Packed to the Rafters – Fine
Karl Stefanovic, Today – Seriously, why? A Breakfast presenter nominated for the gold logie?
Chrissie Swan, The Circle – No way. She Should Not be nominated!

  8. Go Karl! That’s awesome! Doubt he’ll win but that’s great to be up there – first time in ages that someone from news has been nominated for a gold. Possibly first time since Ray Martin?

  9. WTF?

No Shaun Micallif? But they put up Chrissie Swan?
    Seriously????

    Worst. Nominees. Ever.
My money is on Jessica Marias or Asher Kedder because they Actually deserve it.
