On Monday Nine News showed a photo of the dead al Qaeda leader. Or did they?

In the fury to cover the major news story of the death of Osama bin Laden, Nine News appeared to air a fake photo of the dead al Qaeda leader last night.

The report said, “Normally Nine News avoids broadcasting images of the dead. But tonight because of the extraordinary circumstances, we plan to show a photo of the dead al Qaeda leader. It was first broadcast on Pakistani television and is now circulating around the world.”

But following the weather last night, Nine was forced to qualify its report.

  1. @Jeff – that’s absolute rubbish. You need to stop reading conspiracy blogs. If that was true and anyone was going to claim credit for it, you can be pretty sure the Bush administration would already have done so, or would be 5 minutes after Obama’s announcement.

    I suppose you’re going to want Obama to post the death certificate online now?

  2. Catherine. Why should praise be heaped on Obama. What did he do? So during one of his many many holidays( he has had more holidays during his first term than bush had in his entire presidency),he wasn’t at camp David but in pakistan helping to personally hunt down osama?

  3. This is all being done as a diversionary tactic because Obama’s approval ratings are currenthly so extremely bad. The real Osama apparently died of illness, 9 years ago, as he was a sick man.

  7. Nine News Perth did not run the image. I can only assume Adelaide did not as well. Something to be said for the WIN teams…

  9. It would have been interesting to see what Fox news had to say. They would have still found soemthing wrong with how Obama went about it.

    Also hasnt Donald Trump been quiet. Last week he was banging on about Obamas birthplace & Obama had to waste time showing it when he did say there are more important things to worry about. Who looks stupid now.

    Even Elisabeth from the view who should be on Fox news with her other republican buddies was heaping praise on Obama today.
