US cable network Lifetime, devoted to programming for women, has renewed Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva as well as ordering new projects.

Army Wives, starring Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brigid Brannagh, Brian McNamara and Sterling K. Brown will return for a sixth season.

Drop Dead Diva, featuring Brooke Elliott and Margaret Cho, is set to return for its third season.

Meanwhile Against the Wall featuring former McLeod’s Daughters star Rachael Carpani, Treat Williams and Kathy Baker will premiere in the US summer.

Carpani will star as Chicago police detective Abby Kowalski. Loyalties are put to the test when Kowalski causes a rift within her close knit, blue collar family of cops and she decides to join the department’s Internal Affairs division.

Carpani, who also appeared in All Saints and Scorched, has had US roles in Cane, NCIS: Los Angeles and The Glades opposite boyfriend Matt Passmore.

She had previously been cast in the CBS pilot, Law Dogs with Janeane Garofalo, but the series wasn’t picked up.

Does Ten still have the rights to Army Wives and do they plan to show season three and beyond?
