Returning: Damages

The second season of Damages is finally having its Free to Air premiere.

The second season of Damages is finally having its Free to Air premiere on GEM, but the timeslot isn’t that friendly.

It began at 2pm today and continues weekdays. Shame it isn’t primetime.

This season sees William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden and Timothy Olyphant joning.

Despite not being the latest season (three have been produced and a fourth is on the way in the US), this is a ripper season.

TV Tonight‘s 5 star review is here.

  1. It has been renewed for a fourth and fifth season in the US.

The third season was very compelling television – it kicked off with the murder of one of the main cast, and the mystery surrounding that carried through to the finale.

I didn’t even bother with the second season, heard it wasn’t as good as the first.

  2. This is a great show. It’s just a shame it’s taken 9 so long to show it,and a greater shame that they’re putting it on at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. It deserves a better timeslot than this.

  3. ABC should have got the rights to this brilliant legal drama. All three seasons so far are out on DVD, much better watching them properly rather than waiting for this station to play anything.

  4. Stumbled across it yesterday arvo – freakin awesome. I watched the first season ages ago and was super impressed (love the opening credits/music). Was going to get into it on DVD but have set the PVR for 2pm for the next few weeks to catalogue all of season 2… Looking forward to Patty busting some balls.

  5. This doesn’t apply to me, but the reality is, the show is far too dark for most mainstream viewers, plus it’s also serialised. It was barely able to even get any US viewers on FX, so I was surprised it got 3rd and 4th seasons, which only happened as they got a co-financer.

  6. Oh FFS. I prob shouldn’t complain. If they’d put it on at a decent time, say 9:30, it would have lasted 2 or 3 weeks before being bumped or dumped anyway.

  7. This is a dreadful waste of an excellent series. It’s way better than 90% of the junk Nine shove down people’s throats in prime time. If they’re not willing to give it a chance why don’t they sell it off to a network that will?

I note that Nine have put it on their “girly” channel, presumably because it features two strong female leads. Sadly, their assumption that few men would watch it because of this may well be true. More fools them.

  8. The Nine Network – bringing you quality shows, 2 years late.

This is a fantastic show, shame that they’re wasting it on daytime TV. If they started at season 1 on a decent time at night, GEM might find they actually can get a few viewers…

  9. how ridiculous! too little too late. can’t wait for season 4, hope it’s a ripper as i say it would be it’s last. i actually didn’t enjoy season 2 as much as the other two though
