Rivals clear the air for Karl

Adam Boland tweets that there were no shenanigans on Karl Stefanovic's flight from Sydney to London.

Yesterday the Daily Telegraph wrote a story that Gold Logie winner Karl Stefanovic was up to no good during the Royal Wedding-bound flight from Sydney to London.

“Passengers on the Qantas flight last week report that Stefanovic led Today cast and crew in a mid-air drinking session, which ended with the TV host stumbling from the plane after discovering his “lost” mobile phone stuck inside his shoe,” it noted.

After his 2009 post-Logies broadcast it sounds like just the kind of antics he might entertain in Business Class.

But Adam Boland yesterday tweeted:

“Just read piece about @karlstefanovic – I was on that flight and shared a drink with him and others. Was all good fun and sadly, no drama.”

Nobody is denying use of the bar on a long-haul flight, but TV Tonight understands there were no complaints lodged with Qantas.

It’s rare that the opposition gives a free kick, but the rivalries were put aside on the flight to London.

Ben Fordham had even tweeted: “It has been great catching up with Aussie media from other TV networks and bonding in the name of young love. The flight home will be fun.”

Quite a few donned their Qantas PJs and took photos as part of a good-natured dare.

Yesterday Nine declined to weigh into any Karl + Qantas saga, preferring to let others clear the air.

  1. The Daily Telegraph also says that Adam Boland made an agreement with Karl that he would accept his logies on his behalf if all the Nine crew missed their flight back to Australia.

  2. The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential reports on this today and begins the story with “Is Adam Boland fishing for a new job at Channel 9?”

  3. The more I head from Ben Fordham the more I’m convinced he’s a goose.

Same Ben Fordham who tweeted the winner of the Gold Logie winner before the announcement. Not the name, but comments that could have only been about Karl.

  4. The DT did a similar story on Benji Marshall this year. The airline told told the NRL there had been no complaints made by passengers or staff when they investigated it. They often seem to have bogus stories.

  5. I have it on good authority that Adam was offered the job of accepting the Gold Logie on Karl’s behalf if everyone else mised their return fight…
