Bumped: RPM

ONE’s motorsports show RPM is driving to a new timeslot from next week.

Instead of 9:30pm Tuesdays it will now air 10:30pm Wednesdays, following Sons of Anarchy. In its place is the movie 28 Weeks Later.

Yesterday Greg Rust tweeted, “Tonight is our final Tues evening program. Should b cool. We will follow #sonsofanarchy.”

The show returned earlier this year after vanishing from screens in 2008.

  1. @ Vaughan 2 weeks ago < 78K, the week before < 71K, the week before that <73K, when its lead in Cops is pulling 120K – 150K each Tuesday you can see why they'd want to move it.

  2. @Barry. I agree with you i dont mind Greg Rust however i would much rather prefer Bill Woods hosting it. I hope Ten get the V8s again, although i am not holding my breath especially not with the three billionares at the board of Ten. It this latest blundering move goes further to reenforce my view that they must have done something shady.

  3. They’d be better off using what money they spend to make RPM on getting the rights to broadcast GP2 instead. Gives them good live content on weekend nights as well.

  4. The original RPM lost its appeal once TEN lost the V8 Supercars.

This version of RPM has been a poor attempt at copying the humour of TopGear and has failed dismally.

This RPM lost me once they hit rock-bottom polluting the show with cross promotion of other TEN shows.

  5. Terrible. RPM is a great show for Australian TV and I hope this isn’t seeing the begnning of the end. It does have its flaws but it is coming along fantastically in my opinion.

With respect to their interest in profit, I still find this recent change to ONE to be awful. A dedicated sports channel was something perfect for Australia – A channel that regurgitates a fair amount old and/or tired shows and movies in prime-time slots is something we have plenty of already.

I too would like to know how the ratings for RPM have been tracking.

  6. I’ve never seen RPM on any of the ratings reports that I can find, so I can only assume that the ratings aren’t too good.

It isn’t the slickest production (Rust keeps looking at the wrong camera for one example), but I think it’s a nice and easy-viewing show, and it would be a pity if it didn’t return next year.

  7. I hate the move, 10:30 is getting too late for some and will now clash with Ferguson on ch11, guess I’ll be recording it or watching the re-run the next day. Assuming ONE has kept that.

  8. A backward step but not surprising given the repositioning of One. Compare the amount of locally produced content on One and Eleven with that on other digital channels and Ten deserves a big tick!
