Party Down: the movie?

Party Down creator Rob Thomas has revealed that a big-screen adaptation is in the works.

US catering comedy Party Down is under consideration for a feature film.

Creator Rob Thomas has revealed that a big-screen adaptation is in the works but no deal has yet been reached to secure the project.

“People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie. We are pretty far down the deal-making process with that, so we’re hopeful that there will be a Party Down movie,” he explained.

“Ideally, if it works out, we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. Hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.”

Actress Lizzy Caplan recently said the show has grown in popularity since its cancellation in 2010 after only two seasons.

ABC2 recently aired the show on Thursday nights, after its debut on Pay TV.

  1. Oh, this would be awesome news!

It is a really funny show and it gets better the more you watch of it and the more times you watch an episode.

  2. He said the same about Veronica Mars, which had a larger fanbase than Party Down…and look how far that one got. I’m not getting my hopes up, but it would be pretty awesome.

  3. I’d prefer a Veronica Mars film, but I’d watch a Party Down film.

I would hope they include Jane Lynch’s character and the series finale does open up a few possibilities for including that character despite her absence during most of season 2.

  4. I read about this on a US website yesterday and got very excited; I certainly hope it’s true! It was such a great show, and although some of the actors have gigs on other shows at the moment (Adam Scott on Parks & Recreation and Megan Mullally and Ken Marino on Childrens Hospital comes to mind), I hope they find time to do one helluva party to go out with a bang! I guess Jane Lynch would be too busy with Glee to film a part, but hopefully not!

  5. Abc 2 is Not currently airing the show, it finished airing a month or so ago! I watched the show on Abc 2, it was very funny and had plenty of celeb and V Mars cameos.
