Vale: Ryan Dunn

Updated: MTV Australia will replay Jackass to remember Ryan Dunn, who died in a car crash, aged 34.

Ryan Dunn, best known as a member of the MTV’s daredevil Jackass team, died earlier today in a car crash, aged 34.

Dunn was driving his 2007 Porsche in West Goshen, Pennsylvania. The sportscar was “fully engulfed in flames” when police arrived on the scene around 3 a.m., says TMZ, with officers on scene saying that “speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident.”  Dunn and a passenger, who has not yet been identified, were discovered at the scene of the accident.

Several reports point to a tweet from Dunn hours before the crash linking to a photo on his Tumblr blog. The photo depicts Dunn drinking with two male pals.

Dunn joined forces with Johnny Knoxville’s Jackass crew in 2000.

Knoxville said in a tweet, “RIP Ryan, I love you buddy.” And two of his Jackass co-stars, Jason “Wee-man” Acuna and Dave England, followed suit, writing, respectively, “You were always a happy kick-ass dude” and “I love you Ryan. I’m gonna miss you bad.”

He also appeared in the films Blonde Ambition, Close Up, Living Will, Street Dreams and on Law & Order: SVU.

But his death caused movie critic Roger Ebert to send out a tweet saying: “Friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive” which has drawn a furious response from friends and fans.

Dunn’s last project, Proving Ground, where he tested famous stunts from movies and television, premiered last week.

  1. They must have done stupid decisions before Ryan and his friend died 🙁

But RIP Ryan Dunn for the laugh’s from jackass. You were awesome!
Poor Bam…He must be devastated (Even his parents).

I think it might have been to soon for Roger Ebert to say that….

  2. Ebert isn’t wrong but why do people feel the need to comment. The guy is dead less than 24 hours and someone feels the need to share some smart ass comment to the guy’s detriment. At least say it in a non insulting way. Everyone loves to judge, everyone loves to comment. Makes us feel good.

  3. Agree Deeds, Ebert could have waited a bit longer or chose different words, but where were Dunns ‘responsible’ and possibly sober friends? He was 34 for gods sake! It’s not like he was bloody 18 and all his friends were irresponsible!
